How does TaxiCam work?
TaxiCamÒ is a cost effective, unobtrusive
surveillance system that allows you to take and
store an image of any passenger at your own
discretion. TaxiCamÒ is designed to automatically
take a single or series of images of each and every
passenger that rides in your taxi. The images are
taken automatically by the controller when it is
activated by the doors, meters or any other
electronic event.
The TaxiCamÒ controller comes in different
configurations that allow the storage of the most
recent images taken. These include models that
have 256, 512, 1000, or 2000-plus image storage.

The Camera
Designed for quick
and easy installation,
the camera secures
onto the windshield
using high-bond
automotive
adhesives. The wideangle camera lens has
automatic exposure control for all lighting
conditions. The camera filter and infra red
illumination provides invisible lighting for night
use. TaxiCamÒ always delivers the best possible
image, day and night. The illuminator is built
directly into the small camera housing so that no
additional holes or mounting is required in your
car.
The Controller
The TaxiCamÒ
controller “black box”
is entirely solid state
(no moving parts).
The controller
contains all the logic for activating the camera
and is capable of connecting to multiple cameras
for interior and exterior coverage. The small
controller can be located anywhere in the vehicle.
An extension cable allows for a connection to be
made without the need to access the controller’s
hidden location. It stores digital images and does
not require film or maintenance. The images are
downloaded via a serial cable to a computer for
printing or saving to disk in order to provide
police with admissible evidence. The onboard
real-time clock ensures that pictures are stamped
with the accurate date and time. The controller
will provide years of worry-free image capture of
each and every passenger, day and night.
Image Storage - Flash Memory
The controller stores images in non-volatile flash
memory that does not rely on any battery backup.
Flash memory is permanent until overwritten or
erased by another image. The controller can be
removed from the vehicle but the images will not
be erased.
Viewing Software
The advanced
viewing software
controls the
downloading,
viewing and
management of data
stored in the
controller. Its
design makes it
easy to learn and
use. The VerifEye software contains all of the
authentication and encryption controls required
to ensure the protection of privacy and the
integrity of data for law-enforcement purposes.
Installation and Parts
Installation can be
completed by any
TaxiCamÒ authorized
installer and takes
approximately 1 hour
for a standard
installation. TaxiCam installers have access to
original manufacturer parts that enable quick and
effective service. A complete line of parts is
maintained and specialized "Re & Re" kits are
available to allow for quick switch outs between
vehicles without the need to buy a completely
new system. The TaxiCamÒ kit comes complete
with camera, controller, status indicator, manual
activation button and download extension cable.
Warranty
TaxiCamÒ carries a one year “Return to Installer”
warranty on all parts, based on workmanship and
materials. Warranty registration cards are
included in the TaxiCamÒ kit with self-addressed
envelopes for mailing.
