ROME - Wave-2
Imagine an Automated Data Center The Robotic Optical Engine™ (ROME) ROME™, Wave2Wave’s latest innovation in network connectivity, is a dynamic fiber cross connect for layer 0 automation. ROME™ enables full control of the physical connections in a data center, allowing changes to Layer 0 to be made automatically, remotely, quickly, and without manual intervention. ROME™ supports a wide range of fiber connections from 512 to 2,048 with low optical loss and no latency. Cutting-Edge Technology All Roads Lead to ROME™ The Robotic Optical Engine™ (ROME) family of automated connectivity solutions enables facility operators to deliver new services, design and operate networks efficiently and flexibly, improve customer service and network performance, and quickly recover from equipment port and fiber faults. Wave2Wave’s global teams in the U.S., Israel, and Asia collaborated to engineer ROME’s patented cutting-edge technology; creating a product which is innovative in it’s simplicity, and which lowers cost while increasing quality and reliability. ROME™ Family 3 Configurations to Fit Any Application ROME #1 The ROME 500 offers 512 fiber connections in either 256 LC duplex ports or 512 LC simplex ports - available in single-mode or multi-mode connectivity. Some example applications are: 10G, 100G, and Fibre Channel. The ROME 1000 offers 1,024 fiber connections with the MTP form factor. It supports any-to-any connections for applications such as QSFP+, QSFP28, and Infini-band. The ROME 2000 offers the largest number of fiber connections at 2,048, also with the MTP form factor. Like the ROME 1000, example applications include: QSFP+, QSFP28, Infini-band. ROME™ 500 • 512 Fiber Connections SM or OM4 • 256 LC Duplex Ports or 512 LC Simplex Ports • Supports 10G, 100G Transport, Fibre Channel (8G, 16G, and 32G), etc. ROME #2 ROME #2 ROME™ ROME #2 ROME #21000 ROME #3 ROME #3 ROME™ ROME #3 ROME #3 2000 • 1,024 OM4 Fiber Connections • 2,048 OM4 Fiber Connections • 128 MTP® Ports • 256 MTP® Ports • Supports QSFP+ (40G), QSFP28 (100G), Infini-band, etc. • Supports QSFP+ (40G), QSFP28 (100G), Infini-band, etc. Layer 0 Management Automated Remote Control ROME comes with management software to remotely re-configure the physical layer, on demand or scheduled, handle faults, provision customers and monitor alerts. ROME uses robotic technology to precisely and reliably make the physical connections. Because ROME is purely optical, there is no electronic latency and very low optical loss. Example Applications Data Center Architecture ROME can be used in a variety of applications. In the data center, it can be part of the backbone architecture to provide full layer 0 automation across the entire data center. Lab Automation In lab automation, ROME can provide all the tracking and switching of connections, reducing the cost and time of manual connection maintenance. Leaf & Spine Spine & Leaf In the leaf and spine architecture, ROME can be part of the spine to offer on-demand optical circuits between leaf nodes for low loss, & longer life connections.
