PROPERTY
18 Wave Crest is one of the most desirable seafront properties in East
Kent and offers the purchaser, a rare opportunity to purchase an
imposing and distinctive end of terrace 5 bedroom townhouse. It is
beautifully presented, with imperious taste and style, having been
renovated throughout and enjoys panoramic sea views. The property is
particularly well placed, being located just behind the sea wall,
immediately adjoining the beach and adjacent to the town tennis courts.
All of the facilities of this vibrant and bustling town are within easy
access and offer a purchaser stylish seafront living.
MAIN HOUSE
Inside, the house is arranged over four floors, with bay windows to the
lower ground and ground floors, a veranda/balcony to the first floor and
a stunning picture window to the second floor, giving unrivalled views
over the adjoining shoreline. The current owner has been responsible
for returning the house back in to one residence and has used this
process to accomplish a magical feel. It retains much of its original
character and appeal, but now has a light and contemporary feel. From
the raised ground floor, steps leads to a part glazed door with
rectangular fan light opening to a hall with stripped floors, staircase to
lower ground floor and first floor and doors leading to three bedrooms
and bathroom. The bedrooms on this floor are all of a good size with
features including a bay window, former fireplace, white painted floor
and with a half glazed door to a balcony overlooking the rear garden.
The bathroom on this floor is particularly attractive with sky blue metro
tiles, a fitted enamel bath with shower mixer, high level WC and basin.
On the lower ground floor, the open plan accommodation comprises a
dining room, kitchen and rear lobby with shower room/utility room off.
There are travertine floors, a wood burner, a door giving access to the
front, together with built in cupboards. The kitchen has a range of units
including granite worktops and a granite island/breakfast bar, together
with space for a range, whilst the shower room/utility room includes a
tiled shower cubicle, basin, WC and space and plumbing for washing
machine.
The first floor offers a lovely bright space and is reached off the landing
by a stripped floor, leading to the principal reception room. This drawing
room is a really super room with excellent proportions, a wood burner
with stone hearth, a stripped floor and a balcony/veranda with painted
balustrade. With double French doors, this gives the most enviable view.
Completing the first floor, there is a well-appointed bathroom with
travertine floor, free standing stone composite bath, basin, WC and door
to a further balcony overlooking the rear of the property. There is also a
further double bedroom, with fitted cupboard.
Completing the property and on the top floor, there are two further
bedrooms, one of which is currently utilized as a dressing room with
excellent rooftop views to the rear, whilst the larger of the two rooms
offers the flexibility of a bedroom or a studio and enjoys breathtaking
views out to the sea.
GROUNDS AND GARDENS
Attached to the side of the property there is a good size single garage with
up and over door, concrete floor and door to rear. There are architects
drawings available in our office which show a glass extension above the
garage, but we may stress that no Planning Permission has been sought
or obtained.
There is a small terrace to the lower ground floor frontage. Whilst to the
rear the garden is of a decent length and laid to lawn with a paved
pathway and a concrete base with electrical supply for a
shed/summerhouse/workshop. There is also pedestrian access from the
rear of the garden out on to Island Wall.
SURROUNDING AREAS
The property is located centrally in the hugely popular town of
Whitstable, which enjoys an eclectic mix of established and boutique
style shops, restaurants and bars. Whitstable is particularly well known
for its harbour which was built in 1832 by the Canterbury & Whitstable
Railway Company in order to serve the ‘Crab & Winkle’ line. The world’s
