M&E Project Services Case Study DRILCO Installation of Mechanical and Electrical Services Richard Irvin Energy Solutions / ME-CS-09-0615 / Case Study DRILCO Scope: Installation of Mechanical and Electrical Services Location: Fit-out of Office and Workshop Premises for Drilco, Badentoy Industrial Estate, Portlethen, Aberdeenshire Duration: 4 Months, January 2015 – April 2015 Value: £400,000 A CAT 5 break tank and booster set arrangement was also installed within the Workshop Area to provide fluid category 5 backflow protection in accordance with Water Byelaw requirements. The external mains cold water service was electric trace heated. A dedicated close control air conditioning system – cooling, heating and humidification, was provided to serve the Gauge Store to maintain the desired environmental conditions within the area. The air conditioning system comprises internal floor mounted close control unit – up flow discharge, external air cooled condenser unit, interconnecting refrigeration pipework, cable tray support arrangement, power and control cabling. Natural gas pipework was extended within the Workshop Area to create a distribution header arrangement for future connection. OVERVIEW An Office and Workshop Development at Badentoy Industrial Estate, Portlethen, Aberdeenshire was built by Dandara Limited, completed January 2015, with Drilco taking possession of the building at this time to facilitate a Fit-out Contract, primarily to the Workshop Area but also with alterations to the Office Area. The Fit-out was to ensure that the Development complied with Drilco’s operational requirements. Richard Irvin Energy Solutions were appointed by Carden Project Management Limited to undertake the fit-out works associated with the Mechanical and Electrical Services. Within the Workshop Area existing services were extended throughout the building to pre-determined locations, provided by the Client’s representative, for connection to specialist equipment. These Services included the provision of cooling water, compressed air, mains cold water, boosted cold water, sub-mains electrical distribution boards, small power and data. Additional services i.e. heat recovery mechanical ventilation system, intruder alarm, door access, CCTV together with modifications to the existing services - LPHW heating, small power, fire alarm system were undertaken within the office area to accommodate the Clients finalised internal partitioning layout.
