SEPTEMBER LADIES DISCUSSION
GROUP RECAP
Twelve ladies had lunch in a private room at the Cafe D’Art on the
grounds of The Tucson Museum of Art, after which we started our
tour of the museum. It had several floors of exhibits, including
a lot of Southwestern art. We saw the modern art exhibit, the
Columbian exhibit and several others. Then there was a tour of
the Corbett House, which was furnished in the original way of the
early Tucsonans, and brought back a lot of memories for many of
us. All in all, it was a lovely, educational experience and everyone
was pooped toward the end, due to a lot of walking. Also, for
anyone interested, their gift shop has a lot of great interesting
gifts! Watch for an email blast a little later about the October
group meeting. Be sure to mark your calendar for OCTOBER 21,
2:00 (red please) at the Journey Model. There will probably be a
guest speaker. Keep spreading the word to the new ones about
our group and bring a new homeowner with you!
Keep enjoying our new lives in paradise and always remember
how lucky we are to be here!

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP so I can
make reservations. It’ll be under Del Webb at
Dove Mountain. If you need to cancel your
reservation, please call the restaurant and let
them know.
If you have any restaurant suggestions,
please e-mail them to me!

Wellness Tip of the Month
Wellness: a consistent deliberate effort to achieve the highest potential for a total well-being.
Pumpkins are good for more than carving
When you think about pumpkins, you probably think Halloween jack-o’-lanterns and pumpkin pie. But there are other ways to
use pumpkins. They can grace doorsteps or be part of a centerpiece on your Thanksgiving table.
Pumpkins are so much more than decorations, though. They’re packed with antioxidants and nutrients. The pulp is an abundant
source of vitamin A and the seeds full of zinc.
You can eat any pumpkin, but the smaller pumpkins — often referred to as pie or sugar pumpkins — are sweeter. Wash and
then cut pumpkin in half. Remove and reserve the seeds. At this point, you can microwave or bake the pumpkin halves to make
it easier to remove the skin and cut up the flesh. Then try these creative ways to enjoy pumpkin:
•
Roast with other squash or root vegetables
•
Dice and add to soups or stews
•
Roast and puree to use in lasagna or as ravioli filling
•
Toast the seeds and eat as a snack or use as toppings for soups and salads

Utility companies may remove plants that hinder their
access, and the replacement will be the responsibility of
the homeowner.
The front of every lot has a public utility easement.
This is designed to keep the homeowner from altering
access to areas like the pedestals or boxes provided
by the utilities in the event work needs to be performed
in this area. The original slope that was created at the
time of grading in order to supply proper access of utility
boxes/pedestals should be maintained. These areas
should not be altered. If you have placed landscape rip
rap or plants around or near the utility boxes that hinder
their access you can expect to get a “poison pen” letter.

HYDRANTS
Control of vegetation around public utility boxes must
allow for observation, maintenance and repair crews to
access front panels and utility box doors. No structure
or other obstacle may be installed blocking utility box
access.
Design Guidelines; ARTICLE IV – ARCHITECTURAL
LANDSCAPE STANDARDS & REQUIREMENTS –Page 6
In planning landscaping and construction, consideration
must be given to allow access for the maintenance
of areas that have TV cable, electrical boxes, water
meters, etc. Plants will not be allowed, that will hinder
utility maintenance personnel or meter readers.
