Saturday January 23rd ~ 10:00am - 12:30pm FREE MOTION MACHINE QUILTING FILLERS LEVEL 1 - Beginner Nancy Elaschuk $40.00 Join us to learn how to free motion quilt the background fillers which will make your quilting template designs pop. We will start with warm up exercises to prepare you for stippling, then stipple. Also covered will be several variations on stippling and straight line grids. Come see our class sample and prepare to enter a new world of machine quilting. Guidelines for Choosing classes: Beginner ~ a person with little or no quilting/rotary cutting/piecing experience. Beginner/Intermediate ~ a person with quilting/ rotary cutting/piecing experience. Saturday February 20th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm FOUR PATCH SHIFT QUILT CLASS - Beginner Beth Rasmussen $40.00 + Book This enticing quilt puts a new spin on the basic four patch unit. By rotating the four patch placement in a larger block, the quilt design becomes playful and unexpected. Saturday February 27th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm Class fees do not include HST or fabric/supplies. Saturdays March 5th + 19th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm HAND APPLIQUE BASICS - Beginner Joan Smith $40.00 Pattern Included Learn the basics of hand appliqué using the Heat Resistant Mylar method. This method will open up a whole new world of appliqué. A perfect class for beginners, and even experienced Appliquérs will discover new and exciting things too! She will be teaching a great method for building your appliqué pieces that uses starch and Heat Resistant Mylar. You will be working on shaping leaves, stems and different flower shapes. Saturday March 12th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm BARGELLO QUILT - Intermediate Martha Davidson $40.00 + Book These quilts look incredibly difficult, but surprisingly, they are quite easy to make using the quick-strip method. The “Bargello” pattern is made from rectangles sewn into peaks and slopes of gradual colour changes. Saturday April 2nd ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm CIRCULAR ATTACHMENT CLASS - Beginner Martha Davidson $40.00 + Attachment Your Circular Attachment is the perfect tool when you want to make unique embellishments on your sewing projects, garments and quilts. You can sew simple circles, flowers or parts of circles to create unique edges or graphic patterns. You can also combine circles of different sizes and create more patterns. The possibilities are as endless as the circles, it creates! Saturday April 9th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm QUICK TRIPS - Beginner/Intermediate Beth Rasmussen $40.00 + Book This is the most traditional looking version of the Trip Around the World Quilt. This is a simple strip method of sewing strips together and cutting them apart in different widths. Unlike the traditional method there are no opposing seams to match! Saturday April 16th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm ~ Can’t bring your sewing machine to class ~ We have sewing machines available for use in our classroom. You must reserve one ahead of time as a limited number are available. TIPS, HINTS, BORDERS, BINDING & MORE - Beg. Martha Davidson $40.00 + Notes In this technique-based class, we will talk about how to add professional-looking borders, make and add binding to a quilt, correct rotary cutting, yardage calculations for backing, batting and much more! Tips, tricks and hints that will make your sewing easier. Saturday April 23rd ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm FRENCH BRAID CLASS - Intermediate Nancy Elaschuk $65.00 + Book The “French Braid” technique can produce a fabulous quilt that looks much more complicated than it is. A quick quilt with dramatic results. The reason French Braid quilts are everywhere is that they're addictive! Strip piecing and careful shading have popularized and modernized this traditional pattern. Once you discover how easy these quilts are, you'll want to make several. Saturdays April 30th + May 14th ~ 10:30am - 3:00pm MACHINE TRAPUNTO - Intermediate Nancy Elaschuk $40.00 Pattern included The new emphasis on elaborate machine quilting has created a revival in Trapunto to create dimension in your quilting designs. Originally the technique was a labour intensive one done after appliqué or quilting was completed. We will be learning a method of creating this beautiful effect before the quilt is quilted. You must be comfortable with free motion machine quilting for this technique. Saturday May 7th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm FREE MOTION MACHINE QUILTING LEVEL 2 - Intermediate Nancy Elaschuk $40.00 In this hands on class, you will learn and gain valuable and useful information that will give you the confidence to tackle any quilt. You must have a machine which allows you to drop the feed dogs. Saturday May 28th ~ 10:30am - 3:30pm REGISTRATION: Register in person or by phone. Payment must be made at this time. Visa or MasterCard are accepted for registration by phone. Classes are filled on a first-come basis. Classes require a minimum of 4 – 6 registrants to run and the maximum is 6 - 9. Register early as some classes fill quickly. When you register for a class, you will receive a requirement list outlining what you need to bring to class. Cancellation is allowed up to one week before class begins with full refund. Classes will be cancelled and fees refunded prior to class date if there is insufficient registration. NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTH ~ Winter Wishes by The Stitch Connection Starting in May, this quilt measures 88" x 100". Winter Wishes features fourteen appliqué blocks that depict some favourite scenes of the holiday season. In addition to this quilt, the book contains a number of other quilting projects such as wall hangings, placemats, and stitchery designs as well as gift cards and tags for the Christmas holiday. You can purchase just the book and/or sign up for the fabrics. A limited number of kits are available. We will be posting pictures on Facebook of some of the blocks.
