2014 Annual Meeting Was A Success!
GENCO Federal Credit Union experienced
another prosperous year in 2013 continuing our
long standing history of strength, stability and
consistent growth. Our performance is the direct
result of careful strategic planning, sound policy
making, and a conservative management philosophy
which has enabled us to aggressively capitalize on
the advantages of an ever-changing economic
landscape. Continuing with that momentum, GENCO
is set to “GO Further” in the coming year.
While working on our technology presence, we also
invested in our physical branch presence as well. In
2013, we remodeled both the Northeast and Lufkin
branch offices. Finally our latest improvement project
broke ground in October 2013 – the construction of
our new Woodway Branch. We are excited to launch
our new branch this summer and take our Woodway/
Hewitt membership further.
GENCO partners with the communities we serve as
well. In 2013 GENCO: Spoke with over 1,000 students
and teachers giving financial education, partnered
and supported six different Chambers of Commerce,
participated in benefit fairs and junior livestock shows,
and raised funds for several different local charities.
It’s a good time to belong to a credit union, but it’s an
excellent time to be a member of GENCO as we help
you ““GO Further!!”
Sincerely, Neil Ling, P r e s i d e n t

Memorial Day
Were you aware that only 35% of teens know how to balance a checkbook or manage
credit cards? During the past five years, there has also been a decline in overall
financial knowledge among 18-year-olds, and 13% fewer teens have bank accounts.
Achieving economic prosperity is difficult. It’s especially hard for young people who’ve
never learned how to manage money. GENCO Credit Union is ideally positioned to
respond because we believe in the power of education. We’re here to help the youth
toward financial independence. So this year, we’ll be visiting local schools during Youth
Week and give an education presentation on savings and planning for the future.
We also handed out baby trees to 140 4th graders. This was part of a national program
called Fourth Grade Foresters USA. Arbor Day is included each year with Youth Week
and since 2007, more than 391,000 fourth graders, all across America rolled up their
sleeves and planted a tree. The theory in this education being, “Watch your tree grow
and prosper just like you watch your savings grow and prosper.” These children also
became members of FOURTH GRADE FORESTERS USA.
How can you support youth week? Open a Savings Safari account and you will
automatically be registered for a chance to win $100 from CUNA. Start teaching them now
about the importance of saving for their future. Open a Safari Account anytime during the
month of April and receive our free gifts! Come in and see the fun! Kowabunga Dude!
