A volunteer program for busy professionals. Mentors are
matched with a high school student, and they interact via
email once a week and one in-person meeting a month.
mentor2.0 is a technology-enriched, mentoring program
providing Decatur Public School District 61 students
support and guidance to graduate high school, and

It was another great year for us. We were selected as a Quality Award winner by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (1 of 44), selected as a partner with iMentor to deliver our new mentor2.0 program (only 1 of 11 nationwide), and our own Big Brother Alan
Fedrigon, was selected as the Illinois Big Brother of the Year!
We still have a lot of work to do this year to recruit Bigs and raise funds, but none of our successes would be possible without the

with his Little Brother, Deonte,
in 2010. The match began as a
Site-Based Match, meeting at
Deonte’s school, then transitioned to the Community-Based
Program in 2011. Deonte
needed a mentor in his life
because he was having
difficulty focusing in school which led to bad grades, as well as
confrontations with peers and teachers. Over the five years of
their match Alan has provided Deonte with the encouragement,
guidance and consistency he needed. Even through difficult
times of loss, the pair has supported each other and created a
strong, trusting bond. Alan has helped Deonte maintain good
grades, improve his behavior and become more confident in his
relationships with his peers.

Big Sister Debbie and Little Sister Ta’Brina have been matched through our community based

together both Debbie and grandmother, Sabrina, have seen improvements in Ta’Brina’s
confidence, dealing with her emotions and setting goals for herself. Ta’Brina knows that
Debbie will be there to support her during hard times and celebrate with her during great times.
Because of Debbie’s influence in her life Ta’Brina wants to become a Big Sister in the program
some day and be able to help a child the same way Debbie has helped her. Ta’Brina says it
best: “Debbie motivates me to do great things and to be myself at all times.”
