Summer Time Santa Monica
Pretty much anytime is a great time to be in Downtown Santa Monica,
near the beach and Pacific Ocean, but summer … aaah, summer, the living

With highs of 80 degrees from July through September and lows of

Sonoma Wine Garden will bring the concept of wine bar + beer
garden + small plates to the Deck. Featuring the best of Sonoma

in Santa Monica, has been a market
regular for seven years, first solo and
more recently with husband and child
in tow. A stroll through the market for
lettuce mix from Maggie’s Farms, tomatoes and fruit most often ends
for the family with a coffee and pastry at Röckenwagner Café which
borders the market. “It’s fun to stroll and then sit at the café and watch
people bustling by in the market,” says Poza. “We also love getting
things in season we can’t always find at traditional grocers. We can’t
wait for the Padrón peppers to come in at the end of August!”
Chefs, who’ll adjust their menus for what’s in season and available
at the market, love the variety they find here. Mark Peel, head chef at
Campagnile, says the Wednesday market is a favorite for chefs who
shop for the weekend, their busiest times.

How to Get Here
The world-famous Third Street Promenade is located in the
heart of the Downtown Santa Monica District.
FROM DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
AND BEVERLY HILLS
Head west on Interstate 10 (Santa Monica Freeway). Take
the 4th Street exit and turn right to head north. The Promenade
is accessible by turning left onto Broadway, Santa Monica
Boulevard, Arizona Avenue or Wilshire Boulevard.
FROM LAX, THE SOUTH BAY
AND ORANGE COUNTY
Head north on Interstate 405. Merge onto Interstate 10 West. Take
the 4th Street exit and turn right to head north. The Promenade is
accessible by turning left onto Broadway, Santa Monica Boulevard,
Arizona Avenue or Wilshire Boulevard.
FROM THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY
Head east on Highway 101. Merge onto Interstate 405 South.
Then merge onto Interstate 10 West. Take the 4th Street exit and
turn right to head north. The Promenade is accessible by turning
left onto Broadway, Santa Monica Boulevard, Arizona Avenue or
Wilshire Boulevard.
TRANSPORTATION
Santa Monica
Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus system is one of the best in the country! The
lines serve Los Angeles’ Westside including LAX, the Pacific Palisades
and UCLA. There is also an express line to downtown Los Angeles.
The Big Blue Bus has 14 lines, plus several commuter buses. Rates are
75 cents for local buses and $1.75 for express. Seniors pay 25 cents for
local and 50 cents for express. Children age four and younger ride free
(limit of two children per adult).

The city of Santa Monica is located in 8.3 square miles
(13.5 km). Most attractions are within walking distance
of Downtown.
Santa Monica is bicycle-friendly with well-marked
lanes and paths. For a fun, economical and environmentally friendly way to see the sights, rent a bike
or Segway® or use a scooter! You must be at least
16 years old to ride a motorized scooter, and
a helmet is required for anyone under age 18.
Bicycles, scooters, skates and skateboards
are not allowed on the Promenade.
See the city on a Segway®—your own personal
chariot! Tours and rentals are available by calling
310.395.1395 or at 1660 Ocean Avenue.
Taxicabs are located at Santa Monica Boulevard
and Arizona Avenue just off Third Street Promenade.
If you do choose to drive, please remember that
talking on a cell phone while driving is prohibited.

Structures 1–9 are open 24 hours but operate from 8 AM–6 PM. The first
two hours are free, $1 for each additional 30 minutes; $9 daily maximum. For
those entering after 6 PM there is a $5 flat rate. Bicycle racks are available in
Structures 1–6.

Keep your trip to Santa Monica pleasant by avoiding parking
violations, such as ticketing or towing, by being aware of these basics:
4 Metered parking rates in the city are usually $1 per hour . Most
meters in the city have a two-hour time limit .
4 Read instructions on your meter; they may vary from street to
street and lot to lot .
4 Always read and obey any applicable signs carefully—hours of
operation, street-cleaning days and times and other restrictions vary .
4 When parking, always put packages and valuables in the trunk or
out of sight .
