Irish Traveller Musicians
Irish Traveller Musicians Irish traditional music has a huge international following. Across Europe, Asia and America hundreds of thousands of fans listen to touring trad bands, buy the music and try to emulate traditional music greats. Today, Irish music is a worldwide cultural phenomenon, from Tipperary to Tokyo. Paddy Keenan (b.1950) Many of the legends of Irish music are Travellers. Irish music owes much to Traveller musicians, to the Dunnes, Fureys, Dorans, Keenans, Dohertys and Raineys. The fluent, free-flowing and vibrant style of Travellers has added both swagger and soulfulness to Irish music.
