Theme 1 Activities
NATIONAL PROJECTS:
EDUCATION PILLAR
EACH ONE TEACH ONE
SDASA supports about 6 Theology students at
Helderberg College currently. In addition, a
number of needy students throughout the many
Chapters are being funded through school. At
the moment these exceed 15 students.
CAREER GUIDANCE & WRITING/PUBLISHING
• Career Guidance sessions hosted by SDASA throughout the
Chapters
• A number of SDASA members have published books that
are in the market and active encouragement to write and
publish articles is ongoing

the church programmes
YOUR ROLE AS A SDASA LEADER
Implementation of the 7 Pillars



Mobilize membership (new and old) to participate
in this programme. Appoint a SDASA
representative in each Church in your territory and
use them for Communication purposes…let them be
credible people
Flood them with updates and communication to
keep them interested
Convene structure meetings to work out
implementation mechanisms and strategies
Implementation of the 7 Pillars

Use District and Zonal gatherings to put the SDASA
message across.
Campus Ministry





Convene a meeting with Chairpersons of institutions
in your locality and enlist their needs
Identify resource persons to provide programmes to
campuses eg. Roll-out of Master Guide programme,
Chaplains etc
Be involved in the development of the itinerary
Talk to National office about students’ Sabbath
exam problems
Organize a public lecture on current issues from a
spiritual perspective with SDASM in their campus
Education




Identify people who are able to sponsor a student
in whatever form: tuition fees, books, uniforms, shoes
etc
Enlist them and advertise for needy students who
need assistance
Conduct selection and start supporting and provide
quarterly update reports to National Office :
education
Conduct career guidance –look at all major
professions representation ….use church forums
Social Transformation



Identify SDASA speakers to present motivational
talks to local schools, prisons and hospitals
Address issues moral decay drug and substance
abuse ills, alcoholism, sexual impurity
etc…Organize professionals or people who are
well versed with the subject to come speak to
schools (assembly)etc
Life Principles and South African Constitutional
Values (possible material) and many others
Professionals

Establish professional syndicates in your Chapter
pooling like professions together
Let each profession determine how it will enrich
itself in terms of development programmes for
excellence while also devising means and ways to
impact community eg. Teachers may run catch-up
classes or extra tutorials in Maths etc for
free..Engineers to provide internship opportunities
etc
Social Development



Identify social needs in your community
Work out sustainable strategies eg. Food
gardens..teach community on sustainable farming
and you can bring in Dept of Agriculture,
Independent Development Trust etc…Assist with
Project Management…Involve yourself in community
structures for development purposes
Mobilize resources for short-term assistance to the
poor eg. Local businesses to support with small
groceries etc
Investment




Put together people who are serious about
investing…amount in Rands does not matter but
commitment does
Open an investment account and deposit there on
the basis agreed
Identify possible investment opportunities and seize
them
Use some profits towards SDASA and advancing the
mission of the church
Health Program




Mobilize health professionals to conduct health
expo …BP, Cholesterol, Blood Glucose, BMI and
even HIV testing…FOR FREE
Provide education on Oral Health…call Dentists
and Oral Hygienists to do this
Train on healthy lifestyles : Adventist Church Health
Message is now called : CELEBRATIONS
Diseases and causes and cures lectures
