Dear Guests:
Welcome to the sights, sounds, tastes and
friendships renewed this night as we celebrate
the 25th anniversary of Saint Xavier’s
Xtravaganza Dinner Auction. Stroll past the
sun-drenched vineyards of Tuscany, explore
the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and Coliseum and place
yourself at the very center of the faith we profess as we experience
Italia Magnifica XXV. May the warmth of the St. X family and the
gracious feast shared depict the importance of the Sunday meal in
an Italian family’s kitchen, nourishing the body, soul and spirit and
reminding all of the blessings bestowed on the good life we enjoy.
Saint Xavier’s students, teachers and staff gather each day on this
campus to learn, to share faith and to find meaning in life through
their studies and work. Your support of this gala event makes a St.
X education possible for some students through the generous tuition
assistance offered and enriches the experience for everyone by
providing exceptional opportunities for each man entrusted to our care.
Special thanks to Xtravaganza Chairs, Darryl ’82 and Teresa
Metzger, the Executive Committee, Holly Morris, Assistant Director
of Advancement, the advancement office staff and their hosts of
volunteers who make this magnificent transformation and experience
possible. Your commitment to the ideals of Xaverian education at
Saint Xavier is inspiring!
Now, enjoy the bella cucina and let the bidding begin…….at the
height of the dome of St. Peter’s…
Buon Appetito,

LIVE AUCTION 8:30 PM
1. FUND A NEED - Now…more than ever!
The St. X community has always been there to assist Tiger students
who receive tuition assistance. This year, the need is greater than
anytime in recent history. With the uncertainty of our nation’s
economy and lowered value of the school’s endowment, annual gifts
to our student-aid fund continue to be a top priority. The “need”
of Saint Xavier boys and their families for financial aid is real; and
the young men who are current St. X students are relying on needbased grants for this school year. A typical need-based tuition grant
is $2,500 per student. Tonight, we offer Xtravaganza guests the
opportunity to fund as many student grants as possible.

1. The Auction will begin promptly at 8:30 P.M., April 25,
2009, and will continue without interruption until all items
have been auctioned. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M., April
25, 2009, for cocktails and to give you an opportunity to
view items prior to bidding.
2. In order to enter a bid, bidder must raise his or her bid paddle high and attract the attention of the auctioneer or spotter. This must be repeated each time you initiate or increase
a bid. Each bid obligates the bidder to pay his or her bid
price, in full, if his or her bid is deemed the high bid at the
fall of the auctioneer’s hammer. The auction will be fast
paced so the bids must be made quickly.
3. XTRAVAGANZA has endeavored to catalogue and describe the items and services correctly, but everything is
sold “as is.” Certain auction items and/or services may
have restrictive use or other qualifications which may affect value, application or use thereof to bidder. Many items
such as the vacation homes and condos are nontransferable.
Purchasers are bound by the precise restrictions specified
by the donors. The terms are nonnegotiable. Please read
carefully the specifications and limitations.
4. Dollar values listed with items being auctioned are donors’
estimates and are not warranted by ST. XAVIER HIGH
SCHOOL for tax purposes or for general value.
5. The high bidder will be acknowledged by the auctioneer. If
the auctioneer determines that an opening bid or any subsequent bid is not commensurate with the value of the item(s)
offered, he may reject the same and withdraw item(s) from
sale, and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, he decides that an advance thereafter is not of sufficient amount
he may reject the advance. The auctioneer retains the right
to add or delete any item. The auctioneer reserves the rightto announce conditions of sale at any time. In the event of
any dispute, the auctioneer will have sole and final discretion in these matters. St. X reserves the right to have its
agent(s) bid on its behalf.

required by the donor, must be paid directly to the donor
and are not included in your bid.
8. Payment by the successful bidder may be made immediately following the item’s sale or at the end of the auction
when all items may be paid for at one time. Payment in full
that evening is mandatory.
9. Payment may be made with CASH, CHECK, VISA, MASTERCARD or AMERICAN EXPRESS.
10.Items purchased in the LIVE AUCTION may be picked up
in the Cashiers’ Office. When an item has not been displayed other than by poster, photograph, letter, etc., the
purchaser will receive a certificate for the purchased item.
11.XTRAVAGANZA Office and the Gymnasium will be
open on Sunday morning, April 26, 2009 between 10:00
A.M. and 12:00 P.M., to enable you to remove items that

premises by 12:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2009.
12.PLEASE REMEMBER - USE ONLY THE PADDLE
NUMBER ASSIGNED TO YOU TO BID. Your paddle
number is your identification.
1. Each item in the SCOREBOARD AUCTION is listed on a
Scoreboard near the display area. Anyone desiring to bid on
a SCOREBOARD AUCTION item may do so by writing in
his/her name and paddle number, the amount of the bid and
the name and number of the item on a bid form available
at the SCOREBOARD AUCTION tables, and handing that
form to a scoreboard auction official. The first bid must be a
minimum of $5.00 or a multiple of $5.00, and all increases
must be a minimum of $5.00 or a multiple of $5.00. Scratch
offs and incompletes on bid slips are not acceptable and
will be voided, and a new bid slip must be filled out prior
to the official closing of the booth. In case of a tie in bid
price, the person handing in the first bid received will be the
winning bidder. If the item number and item description do
not match, the slip becomes invalid, and a new bid slip must
be filled out prior to the official closing of the booth. If that
bid exceeds the bid then posted on the Scoreboard, it will be
entered on the Scoreboard as quickly as possible. Each new
bid must increase the previous bid by five ($5.00) dollars
or by a multiple of five dollars. All other bids are void. (No
scratch offs on bid slips will be accepted. A new bid form
must be used.)
2. The SCOREBOARD AUCTIONS will be open for bidding
at 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2009 and will close at
various intervals according to the schedule printed in front of
this catalogue and as posted and announced that evening.
3. The highest bid for an item posted, or in possession of
SCOREBOARD AUCTION officials for posting, at the
time a SCOREBOARD AUCTION closes constitutes the
winning bid.
4. In the event of a dispute, the XTRAVAGANZA official shall
act as the final authority and shall determine the winning
bidder. In the event equal high bids for an item have been
made when the SCOREBOARD AUCTION closes, the
XTRAVAGANZA official will determine the winning
bidder.
