THE TEMPLE CITY CAMELLIA PARADE
New Oasis Brochures are here!
We are asking ALL parents to participate in the
distribution of brochures in strategic places we
have identified, to help recruitment. We will give
each parent a modest territory, to cover a
handful of the most helpful places. It may
require a little charm and finesse to get good
placement, so we’re limiting our spots to the
most critical. This will help secure and expand
our school in a very significant and important
way!
WE ARE OFFICIAL PARTICIPANTS IN THIS YEAR’S PARADE
Date of Meeting: 01.13.15 @ 7pm – City Hall
Next Tuesday is a 7 PM meeting at City Hall for all
questions regarding the parade. Please bring your
children to help support our participation in this
st
years parade! – Date of Parade: February 21

JANUARY THEMES…
FUNDRAISERS
Character goal of the Month: Gratitude
We’re focused on reminding our students
to remember all we have to appreciate this
month, encouraging them to enjoy their
friends, families, school and teachers.
Shopwithscrip.com
Musician of the Month: Charlie Parker
Don’t forget to purchase eCards to use
with the stores and online sites you prefer
to shop at, and Oasis will receive a
percentage of your order. We can do
significant fundraising this way, and while
shopping where you would anyway!
Loose Change
Inventor of Bebop, master jazz sax player
Charlie “Bird” Parker is our musical focus
for the month. Students will hear
“Orthinology,” “Yardbird Suite,” “How High
the Moon” and other genre breaking tunes.
\
Artist of the Month: Edward Hicks
Using a shallow, flat surface style, but with
hidden depth in the scale, deliberate
details and shadows, Hicks focused on
calmness and peace rather than abrupt
actions in his paintings.
Mandarin Competition
All students are encouraged to apply for
this year’s Mandarin Poetry/Speech
Competition at Arcadia High School on
March 22nd. Registration is from
Feb. 2nd -- Feb 12th. Non-refundable fee is
$25 per student.
Here’s a micro-fundraiser initiated by one
of our students to demonstrate the
importance of giving. Donate loose
change from your purse, car, house or
even your pockets, (in the donation box in
the office).
Buy-a-Brick
We will be undertaking our major
fundraising effort with a "Buy-a-brick"
program starting this month. Donors can
donate to buy a minimum of one, or a
block of “bricks” to build a photo wall on
our Oasis website. The effort goes until all
bricks are turned on and our current
fundraising goal is met. It’s encouraging to
donors because when you move a cursor
over any purchased brick or block, it pops
up with the donor’s name and preferred
info, promoting everyone’s good will.
Once the program is operational we can
sell bricks to every friend, relative,
business owner and company that wants
to support our children and our school.
Ask Harry for more details.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
PROGRAM EXPANDED
We’ve started reviewing the school rules
and rewards and consequences program
with our students daily. You can support
your children by granting one star for good
behavior per day, when your child does
his/her homework without complaining !.
