A Sermon Study Series of Philippians
If ever there is a roadmap for discovering joy in life, it is
found in Paul’s letter to the Philippians! This short Biblical
book offers grand instruction and encouragement as to how
to rejoice in the Lord in every season and circumstance. This
fall we will read through the entire epistle and focus on the
path to Discovering Joy! Sermons include:

The Finance Committee would like to keep you informed
regarding the financial condition of your church. We lost
some more ground in September as contributions were less
than expenses by $14,173, which increased our deficit to
$51,085. This is similar to our financial status at this time last
year when our deficit was $55,881. This deficit isn’t comfortable, so we encourage you to review your personal giving and
bring it up to date if possible. The approved budget
reductions for 2016 result in our actual expenses being very
close to the budgeted amount, so the deficit to the budgeted
amount is much smaller than in previous years: $68,090 vs
$94,889 last year at this time. We will continue to keep you
informed as we move through the year. Thank you to those
keeping current in your giving.

Did you know that Pruitt Health utilizes volunteers to visit with
their patients in a six-county region, which includes Carteret
County? These patients may be at home or in a care facility, but
they and/or their loved ones all need companionship during this
end-of-life phase. While some simply need a friend to play cards
with or talk to, others, maybe family sitters and caregivers, may
need a period of respite - to get out and eat a meal or even
attend a Bible study.
If you have a little time to spare and are interested in becoming
part of their team, contact Kasi Jones at 252-520-3032 or email
her at [email protected]. Training is provided.

Friends of Jesus
10am, Meeting Room
by Karen Kingsbury
This series explores six people in the life of Jesus - Simon the
Leper, Martha, Jairus, Mary Magdalene, Peter, John. All bring
a variety of experiences and examples that show the ups and
downs of friendship, and remind us that true friendship is
worth the time/commitment involved and that our best friend
of all is Jesus.
Join us Wednesday, October 19, 4:00 at the
church. The children will decorate pumpkins
to deliver to the residents at Crystal Bluffs.
We will leave at 5pm in the church van to
make the deliveries and will return by 6pm so children can participate in Wednesday Night Dinner and Hand Chime Ringers, if
they would like. Please bring $1 to help cover the cost of the
pumpkins in support of our youth ministry. RSVP by Monday
October 17, [email protected].

Crazy Grace for Crazy Times
by Derwin Gray
Your support of the Pumpkin Patch helps make our
Youth mission trips happen each year.
It's a complicated world, especially for disciples striving to live
as Jesus wants us to live. In reality, it was just as crazy in
New Testament times. The apostle Paul addresses the issues
facing the church and culture in First Corinthians, recognizing
this truth: the heartbeat and lifeblood of the Christian life is
grace. Come discover a compelling grace leading to
compassionate ministry and influential witness.

$ : With sadness we announce that Paul Welser,
the Bridge Music Director, is resigning from his position on or
before October 31 in order to accept another job. Paul has been
with us since the inception of the Bridge and provided not only
his musical talent, but also his wisdom, direction and support as
the Bridge was given birth. Please thank Paul for his service with
us over these past four and a half years!
