SCALE PIXELLATION COLOURS DETAIL SHAPE COMMUNICATION! PIXELATION SCALE SOLID COLOURS PICKING CANS THINK OF EACH CAN AS A PIXEL, THEREFORE SMALL OBJECTS SCALED UP OR LARGE OBJECTS SCALED DOWN READ BETTER CONTRAST BRIGHTNESS COLOUR CONTRASTING COLOURS ALSO ALLOWS YOUR SCULPTURE TO STAND OUT FROM THE BACKGROUND WHEN ON DISPLAY (SEE NEXT PAGE) DETAIL Not required, but a nice touch… FORMS CUBES SHAPE SPHERES CONES DESIGN PROCESS HOW TO MAKE YOUR SCULPTURE COME TO LIFE TOOLS TO HELP YOU ENVISION YOUR MODEL TOOLS TO HELP YOU ENVISION YOUR MODEL playdo 3D models (sketchup) autoCAD helps to create sections and plan views for easy instructions on the build day LAYERING YOUR MODEL TIP: sections and plan views create good use for cardboard cutting and for easy instructions on the build day OBJECTS SCALED UP CAN BE USED FOR INSPIRATION BEFORE AND DURING THE BUILD TIP: Taping or painting your cardboard edges provides a more uniform clean look AND you can do it before hand and bring your taped cardboard on the build day all ready to go FILLER CANS TIP: building models with empty cores or can groupings as columns saves cans, or you can use “filler cans” to save costs STRUCTURAL DESIGN TIP: even though your shape might not be uniform you can use uniform central columns to “balance” out the load TIP: use forms to create tricky objects (like this glove which used a tube to form cans taped around the tube, and then the tube was removed FLOOR BUILD MOST IMPORTANTLY – HAVE FUN! ?
