The Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) is one of the nation’s largest and most experienced group practices, with more than 1,000
physicians and researchers in more than 40 specialties. The health
system’s flagship facility is the Henry Ford Hospital, a 903-bed
tertiary care hospital, education and research complex located
on the north side of West Grand Boulevard in the City of Detroit’s
New Center district. While at Wade Trim, livingLAB’s staff prepared a Master Plan for the expansion of the Henry Ford Hospital
to encompass approximately 26 acres south of the main hospital
campus and W. Grand Boulevard. The plan focuses on connectivity, providing a mix of land uses, and creating a pedestrian-friendly
environment are themes repeated throughout multiple studies.
A series of illustrative drawings were prepared to help the HFHS
staff evaluate proposed alternatives.
