2010 Honorees Gregg Middlekauff Middlekauff Ford Lincoln Mercury Twin Falls, Idaho Gregg Middlekauff spends as much time with local youth and the community organizations he supports, as he does working at his successful dealership. The motto of the charitable foundation he created, The Middlekauff Foundation, affirms his vision: “Change a child’s life…change the world.” His commitment to youth permeates his life. He has made it the mission of his dealership to turn obstacles into opportunities for children in need. He is president of the Boys & Girls Club of Magic Valley and sits on the board of the Southern Idaho Learning Center, an organization that works with children who have learning disabilities. His support of education also includes providing scholarships and financial assistance for Magic Valley students for both high school and college. Don Price Lafayette Ford, Inc. Fayetteville, North Carolina Don Price has established a proven record of service to his local community and the state of North Carolina. His personal involvement on the Special Activities Committee of the Fort Bragg and Pope AFB Military Bases has helped improve the quality of life for those serving in the armed forces as well as their families. Active involvement includes hosting “welcome home” dinner celebrations, at his home, for returning troops and sponsoring fundraisers for military family educational scholarships. Price also actively supports local educational growth and enrichment through several initiatives including awarding a vehicle to the “Principal of the Year”, donating vehicles to the local Technical College, underwriting educational fundraising efforts and by funding educational scholarships, grants and special educational interest efforts. Ford Motor Company’s 2010 Salute To Dealers award recognizes four dealer principals for unparalleled commitment to their communities. These remarkable honorees have been selected from a field of nearly 4,000 dealers across the United States and Canada, all of whom serve as wonderful examples by selflessly giving back to their communities. Ford salutes all of its thousands of charitable dealers, especially this year’s four honorees, who will receive one of the company’s most distinguished awards. Dan Pfeiffer Pfeiffer Lincoln Mercury Grand Rapids, Michigan Dan Pfeiffer has earned a reputation for his lifelong commitment to philanthropy and community service in Western Michigan by devoting countless hours over the past 40 years to local causes. He is dedicated to fundraising for such organizations as the American Cancer Society where his annual Cattleman’s Ball function has raised over $1.5 million for cancer research. He was instrumental in securing land and raising funds to build the Faith Hospice of Byron Center, the only one of its kind in the area, where he continues to play an active role in the organization. He is also an avid supporter in other key community organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Van Singel Fine Arts Center, Grand Valley State University and the Michigan Military Preservation Society. Phil Smith Dick Smith Ford Raytown, Missouri Phil Smith is a third-generation Ford dealer who has committed himself with passion to helping others who are less fortunate. His efforts span the community and the globe and include leading trips to Guatemala to assist in humanitarian aid several times per year over the last decade. His annual Labor of Love Walk includes walking 100 miles over three days to raise money for basic needs, like water purification, to construction of an orphanage for physically and mentally challenged children. Local community involvement includes serving as Director of Operations at the local soup kitchen where he has helped care for and serve thousands of homeless for the past six years and serving as a chaplain’s assistant twice weekly at the Jackson County Jail, where he counsels inmates.
