September 2015 in Area 3 was the Month of Festivals, Fellowships, Fund
Raisers and Landmark Meet.
“GANPATI BAAPA MORYA”, A3 celebrated JANASHTMI AND GANESH
CHATURTI and other festivals this month. The cover picture of our Newsletter is of

‘HI’ FRIENDS,
Warm Greetings from your Area Board.
Congratulations upon a successful and eventful first quarter, it’s indeed been an interesting
and exiting first quarter for us at the Area Board. Traveling across the Area is a great
experience and also a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow tablers. I would like to
thank all the families who have hosted me; it sure is nice to have a home away from
home.
As promised we proudly have been presenting you Area 3 – What’s Happening ?????
your feed to the activities in your area. It has been our endeavor to publish it on the very
1st day of the month, KUDOS to the effort of our AST.
Between changing Diapers and other stuff, have made a sincere effort to reply to each and
every minute received so far and this has done wonders to table’s confidence and bond
with the AEX. A lot of new initiatives and good practices have been put into the system hope it’s here to stay and only improve going forward.
A proud moment for Area 3 as our very own Rockstar AST Tr. Devendra aka Bittu Gandhi
was nominated as the Best International Tabler at the RTI World Meet in Wisby – he sure
has made us proud. Let me also take this opportunity to inform you that your Area Board
has been working quite aggressively and coming up with much more and better initiatives.
I would also like to commend the planning done at the works being done by all the Table
Chairmen’s and their team.
Mahek joins in– Thank you Area 3 for keeping him at home for only 2 weekends starting
June 2015, all this is ammo to fill my every hungry wardrobe and shopping list. Just to let
you know you can bribe me as well…..:) ☺
Well each step your AEX has taken forward has given us an increasingly active role in
setting the tempo for the Area at large. As we move into the 2nd Quarter after laying the
groundwork, we are loosening the reign and look forward an equally powerful and action
packed Q2.
I am grateful for an incredible team who has created this energy working together with the
trust of our tablers. I know, I speak of the National & Area Board when I say we are proud
of the foundation we have built, the momentum we have created and the places we are
going. Thank you….

NEWS SNAPSHOT OF AREA 3
HIGHLIGHTS AREA 3:
1. PSRT 177 did a Fund Raiser and Publicity event in August by calling
Roving Sikhs at Classic Rock Cafe.
2. RRT 169 did a First Time English Stand up Comedy in Raipur which was
a BIG HIT.
3. NRT 83 celebrated its 700 Landmark Meet at Nagpur graced by National
President Tr. Suman Voora, AC & AST.
4. PCRT 110 organized a Cancer Campaign association with ROKO with
more than 450 heads got screened for Cancer on day one followed by langar
for about 250 heads. Day two saw equal amount of participation and this time
it was also a dental check up.
5. Corporate Alliance was again done with POWERHOUSE Gym.
6. National President Tr. Suman Voora visited Area 3 Mumbai, Pune and
Nagpur cities for 3 days and attended various NON FTE, FTE Bhoomi Pujan
and 700 Landmark meet of Nagpur RT 83.
7. National Table Talk Editor Tr. Hamir Sampat visited Area 3 at Pune.

BILASPUR ROUND TABLE CONTACT MEET
Raipur Round Table 169 and Raipur Capital Round Table 241 have started external
extension in Central India at Bilaspur where 2 Contact Meets have already taken place
at Bilaspur with 15 prospects. The second contact meet was graced by AC Tr. Hitesh.

NAGPUR ROUND TABLE 83 celebrated its 700 meet in style which was
graced by the presence of National President Tr. Suman Voora, AC Tr. Hitesh
and AST Tr. Bittu. The event was also graced with all the past Chairman’s of
NRT 83 and journey of last 29 years was showcased. It was really a touching
moment for all the old chairmans to see NRT 83 in this flying colors. The
Charter Chairman Shared his journey 29 years back about how NRT 83 was
incepted.

FUND RAISER
COMDEY FOR A CAUSE ! ORGANISED BY RAIPUR RT 169
RTI Laugh Night was a super success with Fund Raiser, Publicity, Fellowship,
B’day Celebration, Inter Table Fellowship all covered in one go.
First Time organized in Raipur by RRT 169 was a house full show of over 450
Heads participating, Event was graced by Area Chairman Tr. Hitesh and
Tablers from RCRT 241, BRT 243.
RRT 169 raised a substantial amount which would fund their ongoing FTE
Project at Kondagaon, the event generated positive publicity of ROUND
TABLE INDIA.

Indian retail industry in a dynamic and exciting phase
A strong and growing economy presents numerous opportunities for organised retail players.
Retail spend in India is likely to increase by a CAGR of about 12.4% over the next four to five years.
The smartphone revolution in India has empowered consumers and opened up alternative retail channels.
• 13% of the population uses smartphones in the country. This is just the beginning.
• 91% of smartphone users search for products via their smartphones.
• 95% of users have searched the internet locally using their smartphones.
• 54% of smartphone users made purchases using their smartphones.
Key trends catalyzing change among retail businesses
Trend#1: Consumer buying behavior is evolving faster than before; buyers expect not only a frictionless but
also a real experience.
Trend#2: Competitive intensity is on the rise like never before; the growth of well-funded e commerce
companies coupled with hyper-local regional players can lead to consolidation in store footprints for many
retailers.
Trend#3: Birth of the ‘experience’ store will set new benchmarks in overall customer and brand experience
Trend#4: Indians are learning to look beyond products and are ready to invest in services
Trend#5: Curation, localization, and reimagining the overall value proposition of products is needed for
retailers to woo customers
Trend#6: Supply chain management will see a fair amount of shake-up; goods and services tax (GST) and
collaborations across the supply chain will define what it takes to reach the consumer
Trend#7: Managing risks will become critical, giving rise to tougher security standards
Trend#8: Store skills will improve; investments in training will increase to create retail employees of the future
Trend#9: New high streets will emerge and with extensive data available, including shopping patterns of the
‘underserviced’, newer physical stores will come up in Tier II cities to cater to their requirements better
Challenges for retail profitability :
1. Creating differentiation is the top issue retailers face today
2. Profitability is the foremost objective, followed closely by expansion into new geographies
3. Changing consumer behaviour is the single biggest driver of changes in retail models across categories
4. Indian consumers still shop less than their global counterparts; the average ticket size in India is smaller across
categories
5. Supply chain in India is still underdeveloped, but is still a core competency even if it’s outsourced
6. High lease rentals make retail in India a tough business to operate
7. Workforce management is a key challenge as it directly impacts store productivity and profitability
8. Improving value proposition as a key revenue enhancer
