Supplies: 6 strips of fabric measuring 1” x 3.5” (top) one square of fabric measuring 3.5” x 3.5” (bottom) one strip of fabric measuring 2.25” x 10.75” (piece B) one strip of fabric measuring 1” x 16” (piece C) polyester stuffing dollmaker’s needle 2 buttons dental floss (for sewing buttons) A B outer cut 1 on fold top and bottom cut one of top patchwork cut one of bottom fabric fold page 1 C ruffle cut 1 on fold fold Stop Staring and Start Sewing! www.jonag.typepad.com Free downloadable pattern - Not for sale - Jona Giammalva 2010 1. Stitch your strips together using 1/4” seam allowance 2. Use piece A to cut out your top piece. 3. Use piece A to cut out your bottom piece. 4. Stitch completely around both your top and bottom pieces 1/4” away from the edge. 5. Stitch a line on each long side of the outer piece 1/4” from the edge. Make very small snips along each side making sure not to snip to the stitch line. 6. Stitch the short ends together, making a circle. Stitch the short ends of your ruffle (piece C) together and press open. Fold over and press. Sew one row of long gathering stitches all the way around 1/4” from the raw edges. 9. Pin your outer piece in place on top of the ruffle piece and stitch completely around using the stitching line as your guide. 8. Gather your ruffle and pin it all the way around the edge of your top circle (the raw edges on the outside). Adjust your gathers so they are even and stitch in place using 1/4” seam allowance. 10. Stitch the bottom piece in place in the same manner as the top piece leaving an opening to turn it right side out. 11. Turn your pin cushion right side out and stuff with polyester fill until it’s nice and firm. Slip stitch closed. 12. Use a long dollmakers needle to stitch your buttons in place. Pull nice and tight so you get a cute tufted look. Secure your knots under the button.
