The CCAF General Education Mobile Program
Do you need to complete your CCAF general education courses but find attending school difficult due to job
requirements? If so, then the CCAF General Education Mobile (GEM) initiative is for you! CCAF started GEM in
2009 as a partnership between CCAF and civilian schools where the civilian colleges offer a cluster of courses
that satisfy the five general education requirements for the CCAF degree (speech, English, math, social science,
and humanities). GEM courses are offered in a “mobile” or distance learning format to reduce the impact
of deployment, shift work, PCS, etc. that hinder a CCAF student’s ability to attend traditional classes. More
information about GEM is available at the Air Force Virtual Education Center. You can search for GEM schools
and classes as well as register, enroll, and apply for tuition assistance through an integrated process. There
are currently 62 schools participating in the GEM program and as of February 2015, 15,380 total students have
enrolled in GEM programs!
