Home to major BBC and ITV departments, the University of Salford and over 80 businesses across the creative and digital sectors, it is recognised as one of the most innovative developments in Britain. The ice rink officially opened on Thursday 6th November 2014 with Dancing on Ice finalist and Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon, performing two of her winning routines, and it remained open until Christmas Eve. More than 40,000 litres of water and 6,000 litres of refrigerant were pumped along 12,000 metres of piping to create the 600 square metre ice rink, which required a huge amount of power to keep the liquid frozen. With a fleet of over 2,000 generator assets, competitive fuel prices and access to a supply network of over six billion litres of fuel, all backed by a team of highly specialised engineers, Speedy was Peel Media’s natural supplier of choice. Speedy solution Speedy provided two 200kVA generators, a fuel tank and a 3,000 litre fuel tank and delivered fuel to site outside of peak times to minimise disruption. Thousands of members of the public relied on Speedy’s provision of power, with the generators operating 24/7 over a 10-week period.
