About Port-A-Cool, LLC
T-A-COOL
POR
The Port-A-Cool, LLC offices and manufacturing facilities are located
in Center, Texas. The 362,975 square foot facility houses the entire
manufacturing plant for Port-A-Cool® portable evaporative cooling
units, KÜÜL® pads cooling media, and rotational molded products.
Port-A-Cool® portable evaporative cooling
units entered the marketplace in 1991 offering
the first version of a unit designed to provide
economical, effective cooling where ever it was
needed. More than 20 years later, the company’s
consistent growth rate and continued expansion in
product lines has positioned it as a global leader
in the portable evaporative cooling business with
distributors of Port-A-Cool, LLC products in 50
states and 56 countries.
Port-A-Cool, LLC selected Center, Texas for
its location in the beginning, and has never
considered moving. Nestled in the
beautiful piney woods of East Texas
— 150 miles southeast
of Dallas, 120 miles
northeast of Houston
and 17 miles west of
the Louisiana border
— this small town still
maintains the look, feel and
hospitality of the original community, while also
enjoying modernization due in large part to the
manufacturing and technological advances of
companies like Port-A-Cool, LLC choosing Center
as their location.
These portable evaporative cooling products
have proven highly effective in virtually unlimited
uses ranging from agricultural and horticultural
applications, manufacturing, industrial, business,
entertainment, sports, home and hobby —
anywhere that cooling is needed, and traditional
air conditioning is impractical or cost prohibitive.
With a strong network of distributors, Port-ACool, LLC continues to expand its worldwide
market horizons and produce outstanding
sales revenues,

What is a Port-A-Cool® Unit?
Port-A-Cool® portable evaporative cooling units
employ the same cooling process found in nature
by using forced air over water-soaked evaporative cooling pads to reduce temperatures as
much as 30 degrees F.
With the addition of advanced technology, the
engineers at Port-A-Cool, LLC, have made the
products more efficient and the process more
controlled, allowing cooling when and where it’s
needed.
• Cools anywhere standard air conditioning is
ineffective or cost prohibitive
• Cools for just 4-34¢ an hour, depending on
the unit size
• Cools instead of recirculating stale, hot air
• Cools up to 4,000 square feet with the largest
unit, or choose a smaller model for tight spaces
• Cools where you need it
• Cools without any chemicals
• Cools economically with efficient resource use
What is Evaporative Cooling?
Remember the chill of
wind hitting your skin after
swimming on a hot day?
Reality: Evaporative coolers are among the most energy-efficient cooling methods available. Many of our coolers
only pull the amount of electricity used to run a toaster.
That’s natural
evaporative cooling.
Reality: No. Evaporative cooling is easier on both the environment and the pocketbook because it’s a green, natural
source for cooling that runs on tap water without the use of
harsh chemicals/refrigerants. Air conditioners have compressors that require a place to ventilate the heat generated from the compressor. Unlike an air conditioning system,
a portable evaporative cooling unit does not require fixedductwork for ventilation. They actually work best in large
open areas like warehouses or even outdoors. In this way,
Port-A-Cool units are highly portable and effectively cool
areas where air conditioning is impractical and/or cost-prohibitive.
Evaporative cooling myths:
Myth: Evaporative coolers are just the same as swamp
coolers.
Reality: While evaporative coolers use the same principles
as the swamp coolers of yesteryear, evaporative coolers
have evolved to become much more energy efficient and
effective. The true difference in efficiency is in the pads -or, to the technical among you, the rigid media.
Port-A-Cool® units offer true differentiation because they
use KUUL® pads, the strongest, heaviest pads on the market.
They are especially effective in producing the most efficient
cooling as they maximize the interaction between air and
water. Evaporative coolers that utilize KUUL pads can lower temperatures as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit for an
hourly operating cost of 0.05¢ to 0.28¢ (depending on the
size of the Port-A-Cool unit; our units cover between 500 to
4,000 square feet).
Myth: Evaporative cooling units must use a lot of energy
and/or cost a lot to run.
Myth: Evaporative cooling works the same way an air
conditioning (A/C) unit does.
Myth: Since evaporative coolers use water, they must be
essentially some form of a mister or a misting system.
Reality: No. Evaporative coolers do use water, but they
don’t get you wet or spray liquid. Whether you’re feet away
or right up close, what you get from an evaporative cooler
is a refreshing and chilled breeze!
Myth: Evaporative cooling won’t work in humid climates or
environments.
Reality: While it’s true that it’s easier to achieve significant
temperature drops in more arid climates and drier spaces,
evaporative coolers do still offer relief from the heat. This is
where believing scientific fact, rather than myth, can help
keep you cool! Even in regions where relative humidity
reaches 70% at midday with temperatures over 90 degrees
Fahrenheit, evaporative coolers have been shown to offer
significant relief.
What are KÜÜL® pads?
KÜÜL pads stand alone in today’s market and
are designed to achieve the most effective and
efficient evaporative cooling possible. Port-ACool, LLC, manufacturer of KÜÜL pads media,
achieves this by incorporating leading-edge technology, specialized production processes, and by
using only the highest quality materials available.
In today’s market, KÜÜL pads are undeniably the
best choice for evaporative cooling.
KÜÜL pads are the best choice for evaporative
cooling systems because they’re made with the
heaviest, highest-quality virgin kraft paper and
the highest resin content in the industry for maximum longevity.
media with improved strength, longevity, absorption and cooling efficiency.
Expected Pad Life
With proper maintenance and normal environmental conditions, KÜÜL pads can be expected
to last three to five years.
Water
KÜÜL pads outperform the competition in tests
for high tensile strength/ psi, high dry crush
strength/ psi, and high wet crush strength/psi.
Why KÜÜL pads are different
KÜÜL pads are created using an advanced curing process and resin technology that results in

enclosed corrugated box and need only to be removed from the box.
Connecting the water and electricity.
Water Connection
PORT-A-COOL UNIT MUST BE IN UPRIGHT AND LEVEL POSITION
Locate the brass hose adapter on the side of the PORT-A-COOL unit (all models except PAC163SVT) near the water
adjustment and drain valves. Verify that the hose washer is in position and in good condition. Attach a standard garden hose to the brass hose adapter and tighten to preclude leaks. Turn water on to fill the sump tank.
On models equipped with a manual water fill and sight tube, the water tank in the lower portion is designed to be
filled at a remote location and can be used without a water hose connected. Simply fill the lower tank using the sight
tube as a gauge.
UNIT IS EQUIPPED WITH 50 PSI WATER REGULATOR. DO NOT BYPASS.
WATER INLET PRESSURE SHOULD NOT EXCEED 50 PSI MAXIMUM
Position unit on level surface
Visually inspect water connections for leaks and verify that the connections are secure. Remove the pads by following
the instructions in this owners manual. Once the sump tank is filled, the water flow should cease and the inlet connections may now be visually checked for leaks. All of these inspections have been performed at the factory but shipping
may have caused connections to loosen. Replace the pads by reversing the removal operation.
Considerations for Placement
1) Fresh Air Supply - If used indoors, the inlet side of the PORT-A-COOL unit (pad side) should be placed near a fresh
air supply, like a door or window, to ensure that a smooth, uninterrupted supply of fresh air is available.
2) Air Pattern - The cool air discharged from (fan side) the PORT-A-COOL unit should have a clear area in which to circulate,
being as free of obstructions as possible.
Fill sump or attach water hose
3) Ventilation - When positioned so that a fresh air supply is pushed through the inlet or pad side of the unit, a second source
of fresh air should be utilized for expulsion of the cooled air. This is to prevent the unit from recirculating air that has already
been through the cooling process and provides the optimal environment for the unit to produce the most efficient cooling.
ADJUSTING WATER FLOW FOR
OPTIMAL COOLING
MIN
• Turn pump on so water is flowing over pads
• Turn fan on and run for 5 minutes
• Adjust water flow to achieve narrow dry streaks on pads
•Turn water valve to the right if no dry streaks are present
• Turn water valve to the left if large areas of dry pad
are present
• Allow 5 minutes between adjustments
Plug unit into appropriate outlet
MAX
Initially, there may be some odor emitted from the pads.
This disappates after 1-3 weeks of use.
Starting the unit
COOLING PADS MUST BE INSTALLED AND CASTER LOCKS MUST BE ENGAGED
For setup, pads should appear
wet before starting the fan.
Check the water gauge* to monitor water level in tank.
*Water gauge is not applicable to all models
Plug unit into appropriate outlet
Turn the pump on to saturate the pads. Start the fan by turning the fan switch to the ‘ON’ position, or to one of the
available speeds on the multi-speed models. On the multi-speed model, it is preferred to step slowly through the
speeds allowing the fan to obtain its full speed at the LOW speed before going to MEDIUM and before going to HIGH.
Turning the unit off
When turning the unit off at the end of the day or week, the pump should be turned off about 15 minutes before the
fan to allow the cooling pads to dry. This will increase the life of the pads.
