The Chancellors Scholarship of
Sunway University and Lancaster University
The scholarship is offered in the name of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, Foundation Chancellor of Sunway University, and Sir
Christian Bonington, Chancellor of Lancaster University. It commemorates the affiliation between Sunway University and Lancaster
University in the joint degree programmes in business, computer technology, psychology, biosciences and communication.

Awarded to students with outstanding academic results who are interested to pursue their education in the

Sunway has set aside 20 community scholarships per year for ‘budding potentials’ from the age of 18 – 25,
recommended from children welfare homes, NGOs or poor communities.
The scholarship covers:

VALUE: RM2,000
Each recipient of the award will also receive a Scholastic Award Certificate
Selection: This award is NOT open for application. It is presented to students with outstanding academic achievements. Upon
completion of their programme in Sunway University, the recipients of the award will be determined by a Selection Panel. If no
student is adjudged during the academic year, the award will be withheld. The decision of the Selection Panel is final.

• Nominee is a full-time student of Sunway University.

SPORTSMAN/SPORTSWOMAN AWARD
• Nominee is a full-time student of Sunway University.
• Nominee has represented programme for competitions.
• Nominee has represented Sunway University for competitions.
• Nominee has placed Sunway University in the local or global scene through sports.
• Nominee has won awards and was given recognition in a specific area of sports.
Nomination forms will be available in July. Nomination Deadline: 3 August 2015
All decisions made by Sunway Selection Panel are final.

Awarded to students with outstanding sports achievement at the state and national levels.
VALUE:
• 50% scholarship for State Athletes • 75% - 100% scholarship for National Athletes
ELIGIBILITY
• Malaysian students studying full-time in Sunway University who are State or National athletes
(2 years prior to joining Sunway University – Year 2013)
• Only selected sports are eligible for Sports Scholarship, such as athletics (track & field, javelin, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, discus), badminton, basketball, bowling (tenpin), chess (international), cricket (male only), football, futsal, hockey (male only), netball (female only), rugby (male only), table tennis, volleyball, squash, taekwondo, tennis and swimming.
Note: If an applicant’s chosen sport is not part of the list of sports for the Sunway Sports Scholarship, it will then fall
under the discretion of the Sunway University Scholarship Committee to accept the application and/or to grant an
interview.
• Verification by State or National Sports Association.
• The Sports Scholarships are open to Malaysians only.
• Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview session.

VALUE:
25%-75% scholarship for Diploma and Undergraduate Programmes
ELIGIBILITY
a. Malaysian and international students studying full-time in Sunway University.
b. Candidates with relevant background as below may apply:
i. Music background (minimum Grade 6 or played in the school bands) that falls under these categories
1. String instruments (piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, etc.)
2. Wind instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, etc.)
3. Brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, tuba, etc.)
4. Percussion instruments (drum, cymbal, xylophone, marimba, triangle, bells, tambourine, wood block, etc.)
ii. Singing background or joined the school choir
c. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend live audition playing 2 music pieces of different styles
d. Shortlisting criteria:
i. Submit a video clip of music category applied. The video clip can be recorded with handphone/camera/video camera. It does not need to be professionally done.
ii. Upload the video to Youtube and send the link to [email protected]
1. For instrument
- If you play more than one instrument (e.g. piano & violin), submit the video clip for both instruments.
- The selected song needs to be on par with your grade level e.g. if you are a Grade 8 violinist, please choose a song that is at Grade 8 level.
2. For vocal
- You may submit one song in any language of your choice. It has to be with accompaniment.

Eligibility for the bursary is based on the completion of studies from secondary schools in selected locations in Malaysia.

Parents can withdraw funds from their EPF Account to help finance their children’s diploma or degree

Sibling Discount
Siblings are entitled to RM500 discount on their tuition fee. This is a one-off deduction for new registrations (i.e. new
students) only. The Sibling Discount will be awarded to the next sibling when both siblings attend Sunway University at
the same time and tuition fees are paid in full; or if one of the siblings has completed or is still pursuing a programme
of study of more than a year’s duration at Sunway University. Applicable to all programmes, except part-time and short
courses. This discount is applicable to both Malaysian and international students.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS
1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full-time registered students at
Sunway University/College.
2. Offer of scholarship will only be made when the Institution receives
the actual results. (Academic Certificate validity is 2 years prior to
joining Sunway University/College - year 2013 except otherwise
stated).
3. Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted.
4. English 1119 will not be considered when granting the scholarship.
5. The scholarship awarded takes the form of a tuition fee deduction; it
is not a cash award.
6. For students who are eligible for several forms of discount by
Sunway Education Group or Sunway Group (e.g. Staff Discount,
Sibling Discount, others), the scholarship awarded will be applicable
on the net balance of the tuition fee payable after the deduction of
the relevant discount/bursary.
7. Should the recipient accept any other scholarship (of any amount),
this scholarship will be terminated automatically.
8. The duration of the scholarship will end upon completion of the
study period specified by Sunway University/College.
9. In the event of a dispute on the eligibility for the scholarship, the
decision made by the Scholarship Committee is final.
10.Sunway University/College reserves the right to alter, add or delete
any of the terms and conditions and scholarship scheme at any
point in time as and when Sunway University/College deems
necessary.
11.Sunway University/College reserves the right to involve the
scholarship recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography
or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promoting the

For Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship and
Continuing Scholarship
A. For Pre-University/Foundation Programmes:
1.Disbursement of scholarship:
- 1 year programme. The disbursement of scholarship will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the programme.
- 1.5 year programme. The disbursement of scholarship will be distributed in equal amount between 2nd semester and 3rd semester of the programme.
For full scholars, any reimbursement applicable will be made
upon successful completion of the programme.
2.Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments
upon securing the scholarship. Any excess amount paid in the first
semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the
programme.
3.Tuition fee deduction for full scholars applies as the following: - Australian Matriculation (5 subjects tuition fee)
- A-Level (3 subjects tuition fee)
- Canadian International Matriculation Programme
(7 subjects tuition fee)
- Monash University Foundation Year (8 units tuition fee)
- Foundation in Arts (6 Core Subject, 4 Academic Elective,
5 Enrichment Subject)
A. For Diploma Programmes:
1.The scholarship will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the
programme.
2.Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments
until the full utilisation of the total 1st year tuition fee.
3.Full scholars upon utilising the total of the 1st year tuition fee, will
continue fee payments for the remaining semesters.
B. For American Degree Transfer Program:
1. The scholarship will be implemented from the 2nd semester of
the programme until the full utilisation of the scholarship amount
granted. Scholars upon utilising of the total amount granted shall
continue to make payments on the remaining billable amounts.
2. Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments
until the full utilisation of the total 30 credit hours tuition fee.
Scholars upon utilising the total of the 30 credit hours tuition fee
will continue tuition fee payments for the remaining semesters.
C. For Degree Programmes:
1.The scholarship will be implemented from the 1st semester of the
programme onwards.
2.Scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the
scholarship through Student Services Department on a yearly basis.
3.There shall be no upgrading of scholarships.
4.For UEC scholars:
- Results for all subjects must be grade C and above.
- Points are calculated based on best 5 subjects of at least grade B.
5.For A-Level Scholars:
- Results for the best 3 subjects must be Grade C and above.
6.Scholars must maintain the following minimum grades as part of
the criteria to continue the scholarship:
- Scholars on 25% scholarship must meet a minimum of 60%
grade average.
- Scholars on 50% scholarship must meet a minimum of 65%
grade average.
D. For Continuing Scholarship:
1.Students receiving this scholarship are not eligible for the 10%
Continuing Bursary.
2.This scholarship is only available to Sunway University students
(Malaysian & international) who have completed either a PreUniversity, Diploma or Foundation programme with Sunway
University/Sunway College, Sunway College JB or Sunway College
Ipoh.
3.The scholarship will be implemented from the 1st semester of the
programme onwards.

2. Scholars MUST represent the Institution in MAPCU games or
any other tournaments as and when required by the Institution
Management.
3. Sports Scholarship athletes must maintain good grades.
4. Athletes are required to contribute at least 20 hours per year on
conducting sports training workshop, clinical work etc (exclude
competition hours).
5. The Sports Scholarship is reviewed on a yearly basis. Scholarships
can be revoked based on the discretion of the Institution.
6. The final decision to grant the scholarship is at the sole discretion
of the selection panel.
7. If an applicant’s chosen sport is not part of the List of Sports for the
Sunway Sports Scholarship, it will then fall under the discretion of
Sunway University scholarship committee to accept the application
and/or to grant an interview.
For Sunway Music Talent Scholarship
1. It is compulsory for the recipient to perform a minimum of 6
scheduled performances per year as and when required by Sunway

and will be granted in the form of a partial tuition fee waiver.
3. Applications are based on results obtained in SPM, O-Level & UEC
examinations taken in year 2011 and 2012.
4. Students applying based on forecast results will be granted the
bursary on a conditional offer that the actual result must meet the
minimum entry requirements. Failing to do so will result in the
bursary being revoked.
5. For students who are eligible for several forms of discount by
Sunway Education Group or Sunway Group (e.g. Staff Discount,
Sibling Discount, others), the bursary awarded will be applicable on
the net balance of the tuition fee payable after the deduction of the
relevant discount.
6. The quantum of awards to successful applicants is at the sole
discretion of Sunway University.
7. This bursary is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash or
other alternatives.
8. This bursary will be terminated upon completion of the normal
prescribed study period specified by Sunway University. The bursary
is not applicable to tuition fee occurred due to repeat subject.
9. Sunway University reserves the right to review this bursary awarded
on a yearly basis. The bursary may be withdrawn at anytime should
the student fail to meet the required academic grades or due to
misconduct.
10. In the event that the bursary recipient withdraws from the
programme, is suspended or terminated by Sunway University at
any point in time, before the completion of the programme, the
bursary shall automatically be terminated.
11.The final decision to grant the bursary is at the sole discretion of
Sunway University.

For Sibling Discount
1. Applicants must be registered as Sunway University students.
2. Not applicable to government sponsored, corporate sponsored or
