David Schwoebel is Minister of
Music/
Composer in Residence at Derbyshire Baptist
Church in Richmond, VA. He is a graduate
of McKendree College in Lebanon, IL and
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Fort Worth, TX where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Voice
and Organ Performance, and a Master of Church Music with
an emphasis in Composition. Prior to beginning his ministry
at Derbyshire in January 1997, he had served churches in his
hometown of Belleville, IL, Montgomery AL, and Atlanta, GA.
As an ordained minister, David administrates and oversees a
comprehensive music ministry of six choral organizations, four
handbell choirs, and a 32-piece orchestra. His energetic, handson approach to ministry finds him working each week with
people of all ages, encouraging and equipping them to discover
and develop their varied musical talents and skills.

2014 Virginia Baptist Handbell Festivals
Forms: Please fill out Eagle Eyrie’s Virginia Baptist Conference
Registration Form
Application Form and a Handbell Festivals Registration Form for
the Virginia Baptist Mission Board.
Register with Eagle Eyrie using the Virginia Baptist Conference
Application Form (downloadable at www.eagleeyrie.org). Costs:
$66.00 (lodge); $86.00 (hotel); $86.00 (Voight Center) Fee is per
person and includes a $10 Services and Facilities fee, one night’s
lodging and three meals. BGAV churches receive a 10% discount
on lodging and meals.
Send completed VBMB registration form (included in brochure) to
the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, Office of Worship & Church
Music Ministries by January 31 with a Program Fee of $23.00 per
ringer. There is a minimum program fee of $100.00 per church.
Tables: Please indicate on the registration form the number of 6-foot
tables that your group will need. Each group is allowed one table
for each octave of bells. Additional tables are available for $5/table.
Please Note: If your group is local, and will be commuting to Eagle
Eyrie each day, the VBMB program fee of $23 per ringer, and the
Eagle Eyrie $10 Services and Facilities fee per person, still applies. The
Services and Facilities fee is required of all guests, as it covers the cost of
insurance, room set-ups and maintenance costs.

David Fitzgerald presently serves on the staff
of Wake Forest Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC
as Minister of Music and Worship where he oversees
a growing ministry of twenty music and creative
arts groups of all ages and a fine arts concert series.
He has taught music in the public schools at the secondary level
as well as at the college graduate level and has served in music
ministry positions in churches in Virginia, Kentucky and North
Carolina for over thirty years.
David received his BA in Music Education from Lynchburg
College and Master of Church Music degree from the Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. While at
seminary, he directed the Seminary Handbell Ensemble and
taught handbell methods courses. Throughout the years, David
has been a guest clinician/conductor for state and local handbell
festivals, conferences and workshops in Kentucky and Virginia.
David has also served as accompanist for the Virginia Baptist
Male Chorale as well as accompanist for Virginia festivals and
conferences. David presently accompanies voice students at
Southeastern Seminary and serves as the accompanist for the
Northeast Piedmont Chorale.
David Lee Weck was born and raised in
Belleville, IL. He received his Bachelor and Master
degrees in Music from Southern Illinois University in
Edwardsville, where he studied under his mentor, Dr.
Leonard Van Camp. He taught at both the elementary
and junior high school levels before entering publishing. For the
past twenty years, he has been solely responsible for creating
and developing the Agape Handbell Catalog for Hope Publishing
Company. He has also published a number of SAT arrangements
through Somerset Press, the educational division of Hope.
Founder and director of The Agape Ringers, an auditioned
community handbell ensemble from the Chicago area, he often
serves as a guest conductor or clinician at national handbell
events. An avid church musician, he currently assists with the
music program at First Presbyterian Church of River Forest,
Illinois, where his wife, Dr. Jane Holstein, serves as Director of
Music Ministries. He and Jane reside in Wheaton, Illinois. David
was an integral part of the five person committee that compiled
Hope’s new hymnal WORSHIP & REJOICE (2001).

Music
The music must be purchased and prepared before coming to the
Festival. Individual choirs are encouraged (but not required) to
ring alone a selection(s) of their choosing for the entire festival.
Six (6) minutes will be allowed for each choir who chooses to do
so. Leaders and ringers may come to the festival to observe and
not ring, but the individual program fee will apply for each person.
