COMPANY OVERVIEW
La Molisana story is one of a long heritage, tradition and recent success. In 2011 the Ferro
Group of Campobasso – millers since 1910, well known in the milling sector – acquired La Molisana
brand and has worked diligently over the last three years to grow the brand to become Italy’s
5th largest national pasta brand. La Molisana has achieved the dream that only 10% of national
companies have been able to realize: we have a fully integrated supply chain – we are able to track
production from grain to table!
Today, the company works with 10 production lines with a capacity to produce 444 tons (888,000
lbs) of pasta per day, 18 packaging lines that offer all packaging solutions and an evolved logistic
platform with automated warehouse, which can slot up to 33,000 pallets.
The pasta factory currently offers over 100 different cuts of pasta and has a prioritary formulation for
producing egg pasta. With a strategic approach made up of energy efficiency and eco-sustainability,
La Molisana implements in the plant the CCHP system, that provides the simultaneous
generation of electricity and useful heating and cooling from the combustion of a fuel or a solar
heat collector. Thanks to the CCHP system the benefits results in the decrease of CO2 emissions
and in the significant reduction of thermal energy in the atmosphere.

BEST PERFORMER
A combination of hard work, passion and sacrifice has helped La Molisana grow from having
a 0.3% market share in February 2011 to owning a 4.2% market share in July 2014! (Source:
Symphony IRI). Even the Export achievements have been rewarding, in fact the activity of 2012
closed with a +75% in volume, and 2013 has ended with an increase of 20% in volume and a 30%
value, passing from 30 (2011) to 65 (2013), the number of export countries. In particular
Japan, USA, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, and the Baltic States. For the current year at August
31th we recorded a 40% increase in volume.
THE PRODUCT
Pasta La Molisana is the result of two exceptional raw materials. The pure and fragrant
semolina originated by the best durum wheat carefully selected by our millers and gradually
grounded thanks to the most advanced technologies in order to obtain only the heart of the
grain and the fresh and clear spring water of the Matese Mountain.

SARTORIA DELLA PASTA
La Molisana has successfully combined traditional, artisanal quality with stateof-the art production, resulting in a high quality, nutritionally balanced pasta.
To convey its passion for Quality we decided to employ two international
iconic thinks that represent Made in Italy to the world – Food and Fashion.
“The masterful craftsmanship of our millers and pasta makers provides
artisanal quality pasta that is tailor-made with great integrity and superb taste”
says Rossella Ferro, Marketing Director. Moreover to empower a new and
exclusive brand image La Molisana created Sartoria della Pasta or the
Tailor Made Pasta, a project which has resulted in an amazing pasta dress
collection, implemented with the contribution of talented fashion designers
from all over the world.
FOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM & ONE COURSE MEAL
Concerned by rise in obesity La Molisana rose to advocate nutritional education according to the
Mediterranean Diet, that encourages the abundance of grains and its derivatives, specially of pasta, at
the base of The Food Pyramid. Moreover Pasta contributes to another important prerequisite of the
Mediterranean Foods: the ability to compose a one course meal, because with the simple addition
of vegetable, legumes, cheese, meat or fish you not only add character and flavor but also guarantee a
balanced consumption of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
In order to represent a further vehicle of transmission of these important guidelines, besides schools and
family, La Molisana promoted since 2011 a food education program. As first we collected in a
cookbook 12 recipes of ONE COURSE MEAL dedicated to children between 6 and 13 years. The
second book of the collection contains 10 recipes to meet the needs of athletes, as a precious
source of energy in your diet.
As third step La Molisana signed a partnership agreement with the European Institute of
Oncology (IEO), a National Institutes of Prevention since many engaged in divulging the guidelines of
the Mediterranean Diet as the most correct food system. IEO is the ideal partner in some initiatives such
as seminars, workshops and courses with educational purposes.
Also in agenda the third cookbook of the collection with 18 recipes of ONE COURSE MEAL Each recipe
is furnished by nutritional charts, focus on beneficial ingredients, statistics and tips.The 50% of proceeds
from the initiatives go to support research in nutri-genetics and nutri-genomics.
