Is TAXI’s FREE Convention Really That Good?
Dear Passengers,
I’m sure you’re probably tired of hearing me tell you how important it is to attend TAXI’s FREE convention, the Road Rally. I admit that I
cringe a little every time I bring it up, but I know what a powerful weekend it is.
So, rather than me telling you in my words, here are a couple of posts from our Forum, where TAXI members are talking about it in their own
words!
Never Been to Road Rally
Hello,
I just joined TAXI in late Dec. 2014 and have never been to the Road Rally. I'm thinking about going to the [next] Road Rally. Music is my
passion and the few months I have been watching TAXI TV, receiving valuable TAXI critiques, reading TAXI forums and TAXI articles. This
music thing has really changed from a hobby to a lifetime goal to succeed in making some money with my music. If I didn't have a full time job,
I would be writing, composing, and recording music all the time. It's addictive. And yeah, I could talk about music all day long if I could….
Is it true that the Road Rally can be a huge learning and networking tool? I have much to learn and I want to take advantage of all the tools
TAXI has to offer.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
MixNow3
Here’s a response from TAXI member Kayle Clements.
For me, everything started at the Rally. It is an amazing weekend of learning, networking, fun, and rejuvenation.
If you want your best chance to be successful with TAXI, there are three things to do:
1). Write, submit, forget, repeat
2) Be active on this forum and make connections with other members
3) Attend the Rally
It's perhaps not the only way, but I truly believe to get the most out of your TAXI membership, follow the above steps.
Hope to see you at the Rally
Cheers
kayle clements
I very much agree with Kayle.

I Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself!
The Rally is coming up in just 65 days! We’re already 20% more booked than we were last year at this time! If you really, really want to turn
your music into income, TAXI’s Road Rally is where you want to be on November 3 rd. And remember, each TAXI members gets TWO FREE
passes!
We’re still putting finishing touches on this year’s Rally Schedule. Check out last year’s schedule to get a good idea of what you can expect
this year. The Road Rally has become almost legendary, and each year, the tickets fly out the door faster than the last. The hotel runs out of
rooms earlier and earlier too! Just ask the people who couldn’t get one last year!!
We know it’s easy to think, “I’ll get to it tomorrow,” but life will get in the way, and before you know it you’ll be paying more for your hotel
room because you waited until the last minute. Please take our word for it, the discounted rooms sell out at least a few weeks before the event.
Why pay the “procrastination rate?”
1
Grab your FREE Road Rally tickets here.
Reserve your awesome hotel room here.
See photos from last year’s Road Rally here.
Better Than Ever… We Don’t Exaggerate!
This will be our 20th Road Rally, and we’re pulling out all the stops to make this one outstanding. Ask anybody who’s been to more than one
Rally, and they’ll tell you we don’t exaggerate when we say stuff like that. This is the Rally you don’t want to miss!
See you soon,
Michael

Blues Listings
NEW LISTING - VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) of 1960’s – 1970’s Male “Celtic Blues” Artists who would fall in general category
of Van Morrison are needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you‟ve got old recordings that sound like they could be
on a playlist with Van Morrison‟s greatest hits, you might have exactly what this awesome publisher needs:
"Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfmkgQRmmeE
"Moondance" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lFxGBB4UGU
"Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DbTIKHYwog
Van Morrison is pretty singular in his style and sound, and his genre has been called everything from “Celtic Blues,” “Celtic Jazz,” “Celtic Soul,” “Celtic R&B,”
and Rock, so it‟s pretty hard to call him just one thing. To state this in its most easily understood form, this publisher gets requests from Music Supervisors who
ask, “Do you have anything old in that Van Morrison vein?”
So that‟s what they need, old recordings from that time period that sound like they are influenced by Mr. Morrison, but are NOT clones or rip offs!
You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI
members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds
authentic to the time period!
This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a
particular time period. The Publisher pays you upfront for the master rights and the Publisher‟s share of the copyright, and you keep the Writer‟s Share of the
publishing and earn income from performance royalties paid by your Performing Rights Organization.
This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who‟ve been signed with this company because they submitted
to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for
$10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.
They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, as
long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today‟s market!
Your name needs to be on the copyright. Your songs need to be original compositions (no covers), and you need to own or control the copyright and master
recordings to submit for this pitch. DO NOT SUBMIT FOR FRIENDS! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions
will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, September 4th, 2016.

general ballpark of any of these artists, then this is a great opportunity for you!
TAXI Tip: The publisher would LOVE to find artists like these with Female vocals. BOTH Male and Female are needed, but they told us you‟ll get “extra
points” for female vocals.

publisher needs:
"Piano Solo Album" by Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou:

"Mingus Plays Piano" by Charlie Mingus:

should be from! You can submit old masters or demos for this pitch. The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality!
Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music
that sounds authentic to the time period!
They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORINDGS,
as long as the sound quality is reasonably good.

Although the references have vocals, please submit instrumentals only for this pitch.
Please submit lively Hip-Hop Cues that reflect the golden era of Hip-Hop music. Although old-school Hip-Hop is fairly repetitive, you‟d be wise to build your
Cues around a compelling, central melodic idea, while adding and subtracting instrumentation as it progresses to keep it dynamic and from sounding too linear or
one-dimensional.
Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Easy edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings are needed for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip
off the referenced artists or songs in any way shape of form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Also, do NOT submit any
material with unauthorized samples of other artists‟ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are
fine). This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals. The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you‟re inclined
to do an Exclusive deal, please don‟t submit material for this pitch that‟s already signed with any other libraries or publishers. You must own or control your
Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No
basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Company - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, September
20th, 2016.

TAXI #Y160910RB
NEW LISTING - VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) of 1960s and 1970s Era FUNK/SOUL RECORDINGS with Male Vocals are
needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you‟ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with the
13
funkier stuff from artists like The Commodores, The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Parliament Funkadelic, etc., you might have just what this awesome publisher needs!
Check out these references to hear the general ballpark of what this publisher needs:
"Brickhouse" by The Commodores
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrBx6mAWYPU
"Rubberband Man" by The Spinners
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKbADFJOCkU
"I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPnZZTVp_2A
“Give Up the Funk” by Parliament Funkadelic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJvjWh2Vhu4
Please do not copy or rip off these artists or their songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as reference to the stylistic ballpark your material should be in!
They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORINDGS, as
long as the sound quality is reasonably good.
All submissions
will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, September 15th, 2016.
TAXI #S160915FS
R&B Listings (continued):
NEW LISTING - MOODY, CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for several $2,500 to $5,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music
Supervisor placements in the second season of a popular TV Series. Please submit moody, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with
artists like (but not limited to) Josiah Bell, Partynextdoor, Roy Woods, Ye Ali, etc., etc., etc.
“Down” by Josiah Bell:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD_ad0DDhBY
“Options” by PARTYNEXTDOOR:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0Qdzv3rdqk
“Menace” by Roy Woods:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6mFyipmOgU
“Flights and Breakups” by Ye Ali ft. K. Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7Qc228VF9U
Give them soulfully expressive songs that are well-crafted from start to finish, with moody instrumentation, and a vocal performance that‟s compelling, earcatching, and really well-performed. Lyric themes can vary for this pitch, but should be something that‟s in the general wheelhouse the references above.
Reflective, introspective, and emotionally down themes will probably work best. Universal lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and
places could make your songs more appealing, but they‟re not absolutely necessary for this pitch. Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way,
shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). The
estimated Sync fee for the placement is $2,500 to $5,000, depending on the ultimate use. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement,
so you’ll get 100% of the sync fee, you’ll keep 100% of your Publishing and Master ownership, and you’ll also get 100% of any applicable performance
royalties. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI
screener handpicked by the Company - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, September 18th, 2016.
TAXI #Y160918RB
NEW LISTING - SOULFULLY EXPRESSIVE R&B SONGS with Female Vocals are needed for several $2,500 to $5,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music
Supervisor placements in the second season of a popular TV Series. Please submit compelling Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that could be found on a playlist with
artists like (but not limited to) Alice Smith, Norah Jones, Diane Birch, etc., etc., etc. Take a listen to the references he gave us to get an idea of what they need:
14
“Loyalty” by Alice Smith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mikl8xN6Pw
“Carry On” by Norah Jones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqA25Ug71Mc
“How Long” by Diane Birch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w80mLFgJPqc
Give them great songs that are well-crafted from start to finish, with great musicianship, and a vocal performance that‟s really soulful, in a compelling, smooth,
and well-executed way. It‟s more about the overall mood for this pitch, so your lyric themes can vary for this pitch. Universal lyrics that avoid references to
specific names, dates, times, brands, and places could make your songs more appealing, but they‟re not absolutely necessary for this pitch. Do not copy or rip off
the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great
sounding home recordings are fine). The estimated Sync fee for the placement is $2,500 to $5,000, depending on the ultimate use. As is typical for Hip Hop
in shows like this, we suspect that known acts will get fees at the top of the range, and pieces from unknown composers and acts will be at the lower end
of the range. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll get 100% of the sync fee, you’ll keep 100% of your Publishing and
Master ownership, and you’ll also get 100% of any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this
opportunity. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Company - No full critiques. Submissions must be
received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016.

“Panda” by Desiigner:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5ONTXHS2mM

Please submit edgy Rap/Hip Hop Songs with contemporary beats, lots of bottom end, plenty of street cred, and a gritty, hard-hitting chorus that will add to the
scene‟s gravitas. Lyric themes can be about anything that you‟d typically hear in the Rap/Hip Hop world, but without the profanity. Your vocal performance
should have plenty of authentic street cred. Please, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general
guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists‟ songs, sounds, or any other form of media.
Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).
Note: This Listing is similar to TAXI Listing #U160825RP. It‟s for the same scene in the same show. The Supervisor STILL hasn‟t found the perfect song yet, so
he‟s digging deeper and they‟ve increased the sync fee, which tells us they‟re looking really hard to find the perfect thing! If you submitted to TAXI
#U160825RP, please submit other/new material for this pitch.
15
The estimated license fee for this is $1,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your

“My House” by Flo Rida:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo35R9zQsAI
“Opposite Of Adults” by Chiddy Bang: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep1ilHpTvSM
Please submit fun, emotionally upbeat Rap/Hip Hop Songs that are rhythmically and melodically compelling, with catchy melodic hooks throughout, and a super
engaging chorus that leans more towards the Pop side of the genre. Your submissions can have more of an Urban Dance Pop feel, as long as they still have a
strong Urban influence. Lyric themes can vary, but should be inventive, with interesting wordplay that you‟d expect to hear from somebody like the references
above. Universal lyrics that avoid specific names, dates, times, brands, and places could make your songs more usable, but they‟re not absolutely necessary.
Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast
Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).
NOTE: We double-checked to make sure the sync fee could actually be as much as $100,000. Our experience has been that sync fees in that range are usually for
“known” acts or hit songs. Unknown acts or songs often get something in the $20,000 - $50,000 range for a big placement like this. Our source told us that the
numbers for this are high because the song would be used in a “main montage, as well as in some sort of thematic capacity.” No matter how it shakes out, this is a
really juicy opportunity.
This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you‟ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you‟ll also keep 100% of the sync
fee and any applicable performance royalties. No publisher splits! You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All
Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a person handpicked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. All submissions must be received no later
than Tuesday, September 6th, 2016.

Supervisor-Owned Music Licensing Company that has tons of great placements in Film and TV. Take a listen to the following references to get an idea of the

deep emotional impact. Lyric themes can vary, but should be moody and something that would sound appropriate in the Singer/Songwriter genre.
TAXI Tip: The referenced songs were given to us by the Listing company, and we know that lyric in Hero of War is pretty specific. They‟re NOT looking for
lyrics like that so much as they are looking for the overall, stripped-down production heard in the song.
No specific lyric themes were requested, but lyrics that don‟t mention names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity generally stand a better chance of getting
used in TV shows and films. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists/bands or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo,
texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals.

Singer/Songwriter Listings (continued):
NEW LISTING - VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL (no covers) 1970s Era FEMALE SINGER/SONGWRITER STYLE RECORDINGS are
needed by an A-List Publisher for Film and TV sync licensing opportunities. If you‟ve got old recordings that sound like they could be on a playlist with
artists like Carole King, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, etc., you might have just what this awesome publisher needs! Check out these references to hear the
general ballpark of what this publisher needs:
"It‟s Too Late" by Carole King:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msmnb676RxI
"Anticipation" by Carly Simon:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKbADFJOCkU
"It Doesn‟t Matter Anymore" by Linda Ronstadt:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGQXTJQTLM0
NOTE: We know that many of the songs recorded by some of these artists we penned by other writers, and technically speaking they may not be
“singer/songwriters.” But this is the general STYLE of music this publisher needs.
Please do not copy or rip off these artists or their songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as reference to the stylistic ballpark your material should be in!
All submissions
will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016.
