Shepherd’s Heart
Do you not say, “There are four months, then comes harvest?”
Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest! John 4:35
Summer is an exciting time. The final bells
have rung, the Pomp and Circumstance has struck
its final chord, and the students are beginning the
next stage of their lives. (Congratulations to Anna,
Baylee, Sara, Kristy, and Lauryn!) I always enjoy
driving through neighborhoods with my windows
down, trying to determine who is grilling and what’s
on the menu based upon the aroma wafting
through the air.
Summer also brings with it the excitement
of Vacation Bible School. This year’s theme is
Deep Sea Discovery. We will teach the children
that “God is with us wherever we go.” VBS will be
held June 12-17 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Please bathe
this ministry in prayer. The Southern Baptist Convention estimates that 25% of the baptisms in SBC
churches occur each year as a result of gospel
presentations at VBS. I cannot wait to see what
God will do through Fellowship Baptist Church volunteers!
In addition to VBS, we will launch a new
sermon series starting June 5. The series is entitled Real Christianity, and is an in-depth look at the
intensely practical book of James. This epistle,
written by Jesus’ half-brother, is my favorite book
of the New Testament. He is straightforward, upfront, and tells it like it is. It will be a refreshing
perspective, since we live in a world that tries to
tell everyone what they want to hear, instead of
what they need to hear. I look forward to opening
up the Word with you each Sunday during this
study.
Until He Comes,

OK Chorale (Senior Adult Choir) I do hope you are
having a great Spring. Summer has already arrived with
the heat. But God does know what HE is doing and we
will accept it and adjust accordingly. Thank you for all
the hard work that you do each time we rehearse. You
are truly a blessing to me, and I do look forward to each
rehearsal time together. Please note a date change in
our rehearsal time in June. We need to change our
rehearsal and presentation date because of VBS. So we
will rehearse on June 1 and June 22 and sing on June
26. Also there will be NO 50+ the month of June.
Worship Choir Thank you for great presentations of
The Day He Wore My Crown. It was wonderful and all
the hard work paid off. I thoroughly enjoyed the sound of
the choir and how we blended together to make beautiful
music together. The summer is upon us and I know you
will take time for vacation with family. Please remember
that we do rehearse more than just one week at a time
and do need everyone to be in place each week to lead
in worship. We are not complete without everyone in
place. I look forward to seeing you at our next appointed
time on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday with a smile on
your face and a song in your heart and your Bible in your
hand.
—Roger

education
there is a sunday school
class for every age
If you are not attending Sunday School, we invite
you to come and join us for
excellent Bible study, fellowship, and opportunities to minister to others. There is a
class for you!
Our average Sunday School attendance for April
was 194. This is one of our top averages over the last
four years. Please look for guests in the sanctuary on
Sunday, and invite them to a Sunday School class. Let’s
increase this average each month.
August 21 and 28 is Class Picture Day in Sunday School. Each class will be notified later which Sunday their picture will be taken. Teachers, please publicize this event in your class.
See you Sunday!

Sunday School Director
wednesdays this summer
While the children (K-5th grade) are doing Summer Blast, and the youth are in their Wednesday youth
group meeting, there’s a class for the adults, too!
Along with prayer meeting where the concerns
and needs of the church family, community, and the
world are lifted to the throne of our Heavenly Father,
Pastor Clint is teaching through the Old Testament.
There are characters and stories that fiction writers could
not come up with! All of it shows us pictures of God, and
His patience, holiness, grace, and provision.
So while the kids are in
their activities, be refreshed
by God’s Word on Wednesdays
at 6:00pm in the Education
Building.

we’ll be staying at the Donaldsons’ farm. We’ll build relationships by
way of participating in various activities and learning what God’s Word
says about growing up to spiritual maturity and living Christ-like manhood. On Sunday, we’ll all go to Sunday School and church together.
If you have questions, contact Bryan Turner or Andrew Stargel.

missionfuge youth camp july 18-23 in nashville!
At M-FUGE, we will get to invest our time and energy into a variety of mission projects. During the day we will be challenged and
stretched as individuals; in the evenings, we’ll have an opportunity to
build group unity over dinner, worship, fellowships and church group
devotions. At MFuge, we will jump into ministry with local communities
and serve people in need.
We will be divided into groups for Bible study and ministry
based on the type of work we request. Off-site ministry is facilitated
within Bible study groups by a member of the trained FUGE camp staff,
who also leads the Bible study. Ministry sites vary by location, but
groups are trained and equipped for ministry through activities such as
painting and yard work, facilitating activities with kids, or working in a
homeless shelter.
A $50 deposit is needed to secure your spot. There will be a
final parent/student meeting Wednesday, July 13, following youth group.
Don’t miss your opportunity for a life-changing summer! MFuge
is designed to give you a mission experience that opens your eyes to
similar opportunities to serve in your own community, learning to live
every day life on mission! Questions? Contact Holli McLanahan or the

missions news
One of the major mission outreaches for many
churches is Vacation Bible School. VBS started in New
York City in 1898 at Epiphany Baptist Church to keep kids
off the street and was called Everyday Bible School The
first VBS curriculum was published in 1923. Sixty-eight
percent of all churches have VBS. Nine-one percent of
Southern Baptist churches with a congregation of more
than 250 people have VBS. The most common reason a
church does not have VBS is not enough adult volunteers.
When you see the statistic that 43% of all who accept
Christ do so before the age of 13, and 64% before the age
of 18, you realize the necessity of reaching out to our children through VBS. The themed curriculum of VBS tells the
gospel to the children through songs, crafts, games, and
stories. It provides an opportunity for the church to reach
out to many unchurched families and show love to the children as well as their parents.
There is a place for everyone in VBS and daily
prayer support is needed from the church body. Find your
place!
money matters
Our obsession with stuff carries a hefty price tag.
We spend 110 percent of our disposable income trying to
manage debt. Who can keep up? No one can!
Jesus warns in Luke 12:15, “Be on your guard
against every form of greed.” Greed comes in many forms.
Greed for approval. Greed for applause. Greed for status.
Greed has many faces but speaks one language: the language of more. Wise was the one who wrote, “Whoever
loves money never has money enough; whoever loves
wealth is never satisfied with his income.” Ecclesiastes
5:10
The only way to feel full is to feel fulfilled. The only
way to feel fulfilled is to understand that everything we
have comes from God—and He gives us exactly what we
need. All of it is on loan! And, someday we’ll have to give
it all back, checking it at heaven’s door! (Adapted from Max on
Life by Max Lucado)

men’s ministry
Fellowship’s
monthly men’s group Ironworkers is a good way to
connect regularly with other
men. They usually meet on
the third Monday night of
each month for dinner and
fellowship. Cost is $4 for
church members; free for
guests and visitors. They also have work days which are
scheduled far enough ahead so you can get them on
your calendar.
Plan to join them on Monday, June 20 and
July 18, at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. We’ll have
a guest speaker on June 20: Tracy Smith, Havana Police Chief.
For more information, contact Jim Holley at
510-2216 or 350-9596, or call the church office.

2016 tallahassee future leaders academy
The Tallahassee Future Leaders Academy is an
innovative summer program that provides community
youth, ages 15 to 20, with the opportunity to gain needed
professional experience as well as personal and career
development training. Future leaders are placed with various local government departments and community employers that are closely tied to their interest. In addition to
their 6-week employment, youth complete a set of financial literacy workshops, as well as professional development training. The goal of the program is to engage and
inspire young people and expose them to a positive work
experience. There is a need for employers in the community who are willing to make some openings available for
young people to work for them for 6 weeks this summer.
Please contact the city at www.talgov.com and click on
“Future Leaders Academy” for more information.
