We are incredibly grateful for our vibrant cast of enthusiastic students,
teachers, donors and volunteers who generously gave their time,
energy, skills and financial support to make this an outstanding year
for Youth Entrepreneurs (YE).
Within this report, you will find some of our brightest 2011-2012
moments and accomplishments from each element of our program.
Through our unique curriculum and focus on experiential learning and
Market-Based Management®, more than 900 students throughout
Kansas and Missouri learned valuable business skills they will carry with
them throughout their lives. We’ve introduced students to a pathway
to prosperity by breaking through feelings of entitlement – showing
them firsthand the true value of hard work.
We look forward to many more exciting innovations on the horizon
for next school year. Thank you for your meaningful dedication to
our students and your ongoing support of entrepreneurial education.
Together, we are providing the next generation of entrepreneurs and
business leaders with the skills they need to succeed.

“The YE Breakfast Series has provided a
wonderful opportunity for our staff and
invited guests to be greatly inspired by the
amazing true life stories of entrepreneurial
success shared by the speakers. Their stories
of taking an innovative idea through a
vast array of challenges and turning that
idea into some of the most successful
organizations in the country have been
life changing to students and experienced
business leaders alike. It is never difficult
to fill our tables for this event.”
– Bill Pickert BKD LLP
“I enjoyed working with the students and
noticed that this project realistically illustrated
what it takes to start a business. Throughout
the semester this project seemed to help the
students with critical thinking, problem solving
and communication skills”
– William Chrisman High School BPA
The purpose of the Youth Entrepreneurs Advisory Council is

We launched the Urban Economic Academy in Kansas City, Kansas.
This after-school, eight-week course, challenged thirteen high school
students in the urban community to take a deep dive into economics.
It even included a Washington D.C. trip. Due to its success, we plan to
expand it into other regions in 2012-2013!
In April 2012, we launched
YE Academy to provide
continuing education and
a corresponding point
system to reward students
and alumni for their
participation outside the
classroom. Our graduates
have the opportunity to
earn up to
$
2,500
a year in scholarship
funding or venture capital
for their business.

“While networking at a YE event, I had the opportunity to speak with the
co-founder of one of my favorite restaurants. I found this to be an invaluable
experience because I was able to talk to him about how I have considered
a career in the quick serve industry. We exchanged business cards and are
planning to meet in the near future to discuss in more detail. I look forward to
the continued partnership and friendship with this person as I continue through
college and into my future. I also look forward to future YE events so I can
further my networking and improve my future goals”
