in Delhi and will continue on the
existing NH-24 up to Dansa (Km 30.38)
About Dasna
From DASNA, there will be a
completely new alignment up to
Meerut. The alignment will terminate
on inner ring road/Meerut bypass near
Railway crossing (KM 66) at Meerut.
Rs 2,809.6 Crore

to complete three of the project’s four
packages. The first three packages are
Nizamuddin Bridge to UP Border, UP
Border to Dasna and Dasna to Hapur. The
fourth package will be a new alignment
of Delhi Meerut Expressway from Dasna
to Meerut and six-lane connector.

Widening NH-24
The end to commuter's woes?
The widening of
NH-24 to be the
end of the Greater
Noida-Hapur route
commuter’s daily
troubles.
Among the several
highways/expressways
that connect Delhi to
cities — Meerut &
Hapur (NH-24), Jaipur
(NH-8), Panipat (NHl) and Agra (Yamuna
Expressway and NH-2)
Picture above: (Clockwise from top left) Traffic jams take hours to clear on
the NH-24. Map showing the NH-24 will provide a new lease of life to all
— NH-24 is probably the
real estate destinations along the road. The widening of road will also result
most densely populated
into realignment as the travel time will reduce significantly and therefore
will allow people to move away from the cities." says a realtor.
as there are several small
cities along the corridor.
Providing access to Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida, the road, once
fully developed, will connect up to Meerut and Hapur and is set to be a
very busy stretch. Therefore, widening of the expressway will only act as
a catalyst for real estate demand and development on both sides of the
road in the future. This stretch of road suffers from nightmarish traffic
jams everyday- widening it will answer the daily commuters prayers.
348.6 Hectares is the total land
required for three packages, and
343.36 hectares has already been
acquired.

Teacher
training
initiative by NITTR at Delhi Technical Campus
Excerpts: Dr. Tulsi, Dean R& D, NITTTR (National
Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research).
The goal of the teacher initiative was to
enable the teachers to create industry ready,
employable, professionals, not fresh graduates
unable to cope with the pressures of the job.
The session imparted great leanings and, the
jist of the session is as follows:
• Develop effective teaching practices to be
able to engage students in active learning.
• Engage students in group activities as
part of the curriculum, and to develop
the qualities of discussion, analysis and
decision making.
When a “fresher” engineer goes to his first
job, he is expected, after a brief training, to
be able to analyze, evaluate and create on the
basis of his knowledge.
• Building learning communities in the class
to encourage group learners as well as
individual learners.
The education imparted in most technical
institutes in India leaves the graduate hapless
in such a situation. What he has been taught
so far is to learn, understand and remember
which is inadequate to enable him to become
analytical and creative overnight.
• Developing assessment techniques in
accordance with the course objectives.
Using student feedback, both direct
and indirect, to improve teaching
methodologies throughout the course.

The mission of any good faculty development
program is to assist and support faculty
in their professional development. From
developing strategies enriching student
learning to foster a campus culture, innovative
teaching and learning is the cornerstone of
educational excellence.
Training for the faculty and staff of technical
institutions and working professionals from
industry, from India and other developing
countries was held at the campus as a two day
online session.
This online Training let the faculty members
hold interactive Training Sessions with up to
200 people—right from their desk without
the need to go anywhere. The online training
saved time and travel costs. Since many
people were getting the training together in a
Video conference mode, more people could
be reached across the globe. It made the tests
and materials available online.

network connectivity, which enables
these objects to collect and exchange
data. The Internet of Things allows
objects to be sensed and controlled
remotely across the existing network
infrastructure, creating opportunities
for more direct integration between the
physical world and computer-based
systems, and resulting in improved
efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit. Each thing is
uniquely identifiable through its embedded computing
system, but is able to interoperate within the existing Internet
infrastructure. Experts estimate that the IoT will consist of
almost 50 billion objects by 2020.

series of special lectures has been arranged for the
management students. These lectures, delivered
by industry experts, are believed to widen the
understanding of the students.
Greater Noida: a vision of an ideal city, but at what cost?
Call it our destiny or call it our vision, but Greater Noida
is shaping up as India’s smartest city, the National Capital
Region’s most modern urban development and the fastestdeveloping center of attraction for the people of Delhi, Noida,
Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
Greater Noida is now looking for a mutually beneficial
association with investors who could become part of its vision
to conceive and execute international standard -schools,
colleges, hospitals, offices, amusement parks and other
projects. This association would be your destiny through your
vision.
8 Greater Noida has emerged as a modern model of farsighted
town planning. Availability of basic infrastructure is planned
to exceed demand at all stages of development, interflowing green spaces, a grid iron pattern of wide roads for
an efficient transport system, and a unique integration of
industrial, commercial, institutional and residential zones.
Such are the lofty expectations of the Greater Noida Industrial
development Authority.
Greater Noida is still a place where you can wake up to
birdsongs. The birds live in the plots that are still vacant and
bear some natural vegetation. The ornamental vegetation
used to make “green areas” of the city green provides no food
or shelter to the indigenous birds of the region. As a result, our
green areas are devoid of birdlife. This is a disappointment as
the area previously boasted of a huge population of grassland
birds.
Thoughtful landscaping may resolve the issue to a certain
degree, providing statutory green cover in a site as well as
source of food and shelter to grassland birds.
