Grooming: Long tables will be set up in the main ballroom. Exhibitors will have access to
the room beginning at 4:30 PM on Friday, October 21.

for dogs and bitches weighing 7 pounds and under (9 mos. and older).
This is a non-regular AKC Approved Special Attraction judged by Mr. Kennard Springer of
CareKen’s Pekingese.
PCA engraved silver trophies, silver challenge trophy and rosettes are offered.

Best of Breed Competition
The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed Competition: Dogs
that are Champions of Record and dogs that according to their owner’s records have completed
the requirements for a Championship but whose Championships are unconfirmed. The showing of
dogs whose Championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the
show where a dog completed the requirements for a Championship according to owner’s records.

Non-Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries – Entry Fee $20.00 for each Unit
STUD DOG CLASS: For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud
Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The owner of the Stud Dog need not
necessarily be owner of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in
the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition
that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the

standard for its Breed. Get must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition or some
other non-regular class.
BROOD BITCH CLASS: For Brood Bitches and two of their Produce. Brood Bitches must be entered
in the Brood Bitch Class and must be shown in the ring with their Produce. The owner of the Brood
Bitch need not necessarily be owner of the produce. While the merits of the Brood Bitch are not
to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Brood Bitch must be examined to determine
if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules,
AKC policy or the standard for its Breed. Produce must be entered in a regular class, Best of
Breed competition or some other non-regular class.
NOTE: As the judge’s decision in the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch Class is based on the merits of more
than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class
will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class.
SLEEVE SHOW CLASSIFICATION

SWEEPSTAKES
Requirements: Sweepstakes is open to all Pekingese dogs & bitches over 6 months & under 18 months
of age. All entries for Sweepstakes must be entered in one or more of the Regular Classes and entry
must be made at the same time, on the same entry blank that the Regular Class entries are made. Entries
in Sweepstakes Classes may be handled by anyone in good standing with the American Kennel Club.

After retaining 35% of the entry fees for each class, the balance will be divided as follows.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP (offered BOTH DAYS)
NOVICE CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day
of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with
competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of
the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member
show, with competition present in the Novice class.
Novice AND OPEN Class divided: Junior-9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the
show; Intermediate-12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show; Senior-15 years
old and under 18 years old on the day of the show.
NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry. You
may obtain your junior identification number by calling the AKC, Judges Education Dept, (919)
816-3776. BE SURE ALL INFORMATION for Jr. Showmanship Classes is entered on front and
back of entry form.

TROPHIES AND PRIZES
All prizes, if not awarded in the ring, must be picked up during the show. No prizes will be
mailed. The Pekingese Club of America reserves the right to make prize substitutions of
equal or greater value in the event a specific listed prize is not available.
The Pekingese Club of America

Silver trophies for the National and Crystal trophies for the PCA Regional,
each engraved with the PCA insignia.

Rosettes will be awarded for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Winners, Winners
Dog, Winners Bitch, Reserve Winners Dog, Reserve Winners Bitch, Best Puppy, Best Bred-By
Exhibitor, Best Veteran, Select Dog, Select Bitch, Best Junior Handler, Best in Sweepstakes,
Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes, Best in Sleeve Show and Best of Opposite Sex in
Sleeve Show.
Best of Breed ~The Pekingese Club of America offers a PCA Insignia Gold Medallion to the
Best of Breed winner of each PCA specialty, presented by the PCA President.

Awards of Merit
Awards of Merit Medallions will be offered at the PCA Regional and National Specialties.
PCA Awards of Merit and are open to all. After Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of
Opposite Sex are awarded, the judge may award Awards of Merit. The number of Awards of
Merit awarded will be based on the number of dogs and bitches in competition in the Best of
Breed class including winners dog and winners bitch. There is one Award of Merit available
for dogs in actual competition (not entries) in the Best of Breed class including the Winners
Dog and Winners Bitch as follows:
• 10 through 14 dogs in actual competition = 1 Medal
• 15 through 24 dogs in actual competition = 2 Medals
• 25 through 34 dogs in actual competition = 3 Medals.

The winners of the following awards at the National Specialty will qualify for Crufts and will
be presented with a Crufts qualifying certificate:
Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Awards of Merit and Best Bred-by Exhibitor.

ROYAL CANIN HAS GENEROUSLY CONTRIBUTED TO PCA’S REGIONAL AND NATIONAL
SPECIALTIES. A Royal Canin trophy valued at least $5.00 shall be awarded to the first place
winner in each class for dogs and bitches for both the PCA Regional and National Specialties. In addition, Royal Canin is offering merchandise as a trophy to the Best of Breed, Best
of Winners, Best of Opposite, Best Puppy, Best Bred by Exhibitor winners for both the PCA
Regional and National Specialties.
All Royal Canin Prizes, if not awarded in the ring, must be picked up during the event at
PCA Trophy Table. Presentation of the winning ribbon is required. Royal Canin reserves the
right to make prize substitutions of equal or greater value in the event a specific listed prize
is unavailable.

Challenge Trophies
For permanent possession, all Challenge Trophies must be won three times by the same owner(s)
not necessarily with the same dog. All Challenge Trophies listed below are offered through The
Pekingese Club of America for its National Specialty only. All trophies will remain in the possession of the Club until retired.
The Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Trophy, a silver Regal Trophy for Best of Breed offered by Mr.
William Secord in memory of Mrs. Walter Jeffords. Must be won three times by the same
breeder-owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The Whitworth Trophy - offered by Mr. Michael J. Dachel in memory of Mary Lou Roberts, a
silver Britannia Cooler for Winners Dog if 8 pounds or under and handled in the ring by its
Breeder/Owner. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner, not
necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
Champion Pequest Match Point Trophy - a silver Challenge Trophy offered by Sascha M. Rockefeller for Best of Breed. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same
owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
Champion Mei Li Masquerade Trophy, a silver Exeter Cup for Best of Breed, offered by Lucille G. Tulloch. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner,
not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The LionShadow Trophy - a silver Sovereign Trophy for Best of Breed, offered by Edie and Cliff
Jones in loving memory of Ch. LionShadow Prince Hilarion. For permanent possession, it must
be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive
shows.
The Dorodea Love Song Trophy – A silver Fruit Bowl for Best of Breed, offered by Lydia
Kretzman. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
Champion Franshaw Desert Orchid Trophy, a silver Regal Trophy for Best of Opposite Sex to
Best of Breed if a Bitch, offered by John Shaw. For permanent possession, it must be won three
times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The DahLing Trophy, a silver Exeter Cup for Winners Dog offered by Charlotte E. Karpinecz in
memory of “The Sainted One.” For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the
same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The Edward B. Jenner Trophy, a silver Challenge Trophy for Best Bred-by-Exhibitor in Show,
offered by Joseph B. Franklin and Margie Catlett, Mar-Joe’s Pekingese. For permanent possession, the winner must be handled in the ring for Best of Breed by its breeder/owner and won
three times, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.

The Elaine Rigden Tribute Trophy, a silver Wellington Cup for Best Bred-By-Exhibitor in Show
if a Bitch, offered by Hiram Stewart, Hi-Wins Pekingese. For permanent possession, it must
be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive
shows.
The Nigel Aubrey-Jones Trophy, an Exclusive Silver Presidential Cup offered by Knolland
Farm for Best of Winners. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same
owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The Dr. Claudia C. Covo Trophy, a silver Challenge Trophy offered by Gabriel A. Covo, M.D.
and Gioia Covo, Qui Chang Pekingese, for the winner of Open Bitch 8 pounds and Over if a
Parti-Color. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner, not
necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The Morningstar Trophy - a silver Regal Trophy for Best of Breed if owner-handled, offered by
John D. French and Anthony E. Rosato. For permanent possession, it must be won three times,
not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
The Houston Carr Trophy, a silver Sovereign Trophy for Best Bred-By-Exhibitor in Show if a
Bitch, offered by Mrs. Peggy Dillard Carr, Carr’s Pekingese. For permanent possession, it
must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.
Champion Linn Lee’s Dance With Dragons Trophy, a silver Traditional Revere Bowl for Winners Dog from the Bred-by-Exhibitor class, offered by Herb and Erna Holcombe. For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same
dog or at consecutive shows.
