Jumping Jelly Beans
Here is an assortment of ideas for teaching colors in a
most delicious way--with jelly beans. Jelly beans come
in a variety of colors and are wonderful for introducing
children to jellybeans. Have each child take a jelly bean.
Have each child to hold up his jelly bean when you name
its color. Once each child is sure of his bean's color, have
him eat it! then sing this silly song. As each different color
word is subst it uted, encourage the children who ate a bean
of that color to stand up and rub their t ummies. You can also
do this with jelly beans made out of construct ion paper.

The Easter Story
From Jesus' entry into Jerusalem through the crucifixion and the Resurrect ion, the Easter story is presented in
its most tradit ional form. Vibrant illustrat ions paired with classic text bridge the connect ion between the biblical
story and today's Easter celebrat ion. This book is unsurpassed as an introduct ion to the significance of Easter.
Palm Sunday- Jesus told his friends to get him a mommy donkey and a baby donkey for Him to ride to the party.
Do you know what a donkey says? A donkey says, hee-haw. Talk like a donkey with me. hee-haw, hee-haw.
When Jesus and his friends got to the party they saw LOTS of people wait ing for him. Some of the people were
so happy to see Jesus that they threw their coats down on the ground to make a special road for the donkey.
Other people were so happy they waved tree brancehs like it was a big parade! All the people were waving
their branche and shout ing a special word. The word was “Hosanna”. Can you say Hosanna? That special
word means that they loved Jesus so much and they knew he was a good friend. Jesus is our good friend too.
Jesus wants to be your friend forever.
Handprint Branches- Make handprint branches for them to use as you are telling the story and shout ing
Hosanna!
Make a donkey paper bag puppet.
Donkey Footprint and Handprint Craft for Palm Sunday.
Easier Version of Resurrect ion EggsSupplies:
• Six empty plast ic eggs
• St ickers or markers
• Heart st icker
• Band-aid
• Paper cross
• Tomb formed out of clay
• Rock
• Printable Poem for Easter Story Eggs (in binder)
• Printable Poem for Easter Story Eggs (in binder)
1) Using st ickers or a marker, put a letter on each egg to spell the word Easter.
2) Using the pict ures below, fill each egg with the corresponding item.
E is for Each of us. God loves everyone. (Heart st icker)
A is for A broken world, so He sent His Son. (Band-Aid)
S is for our Sins that Jesus took away. (Paper Cross)
T is for the Tomb where He lay for three whole days. (Clay Tomb)
E is for the Empty tomb. The stone was rolled away! (Stone)
R is for the Risen Lord. Jesus is alive today!
Tape Crosses
Materials Needed: Blue painters tape, fingerpaint paper
Place painters tape on fingerpaint paper in the shape of a cross.
When children are done paint ing, help them remove the tape to reveal the cross.
EXTENSION: In advance, write phrases such as He Lives, He is Risen, etc. on the cross.
VARIATION: You could also do this at an art table using finger paint!
Make Resurrect ion Rolls- This is a great act ivity because it shows that when the rolls are done baking, they are
empty inside, just like Jesus’ tomb! Ingredients needed are: crescent rolls, marshmallows, sugar, cinnamon and
butter. Give each child one triangle shaped sect ion of crescent roll. This represents the tomb. Each child takes
one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ. Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon
and sugar mixt ure. This represents the oils and spices the body was annointed with upon burial. Lay the
marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. make sure all seams are pinched
together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will “ooze” out of the seams) Bake according to package direct ions.
Break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer there!
The Easter Egg
In this charmingly illustrated tale, a lovable bunny becomes a hero when he keeps a robin's egg safe and warm
unt il the baby bird hatches. As the story unfolds, a wealth of winsome forest animals, decorated eggs and spring
t ime flora keep litt le readers engaged unt il the tale ends
PLASTIC EGG FUN
Try one or more of the following ideas for using plast ic Easter eggs.
Take t urns with your child tossing the eggs into a large basket or box.
Hide a small object inside an egg. Give clues and invite your child to guess what the object is. Then let her
hide an object for you to guess.
Sort eggs according to color.
Count with your children while putt ing eggs into the cups of an egg carton and taking them out again.
Set out small, medium, and large eggs. Invite the children to sort the eggs into three baskets by size.
Fill pairs of eggs with small objects, such as pennies, dried beans, paper clips, and jingle bells. Seal the eggs
closed. Let the children shake the eggs to discover the pairs with matching sounds.
Mix plast ic egg halves up in a t ub or basket. Have them put together the correct matching pair.
Match pom poms to plast ic eggs. Older toddlers can use chopst icks or tweezers
to make it more challenging.
Wash plast ic eggs.
Make a simple Easter basket with eggs
EASTER EGG CRAFTS
Marbelized Egg- Make egg shapes out of heavy card stock paper. Cover a paper plate with shaving cream.
Add four dots of paint. Use paint bushes for them to swirl around the mixt ure. Lay the egg on top and hold down
for about five minutes. Scrape off excess shaving cream
Q-Tip Eggs- Use Q-Tips to paint designs on a cut out egg
Ribbon or material Eggs Glue strips of ribbon or material on to an egg
Stained Glass Egg
Egg Suncatcher with t issue paper.
Egg Felt- Cut out eggs from felt. You can let them decorate the eggs with small pieces of other felt. You can also
t urn this into a learning act ivity and have them put circles of felt for the number that you have on the egg.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit
This story tells Beatrix Potter's famous tale of naughty Peter Rabbit's advent ures in Mr. McGregor's garden.
Young children will be enchanted by the simple text and beaut iful illustrat ions, which bring a classic story vibrant ly
to life. As a board book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit will capt ivate children and offer them an early introduct ion to
the world of Peter Rabbit and all his friends
Plant flowers or vegetables.
Peter Rabbit Sensory Bin (Will probably be in the Sensory Room for North Point)
Explore carrots- Touch, wash, etc.
Make a bunny hat.
Where’s Peter Rabbit? This is a posit ional word game that encourages them to use the words: top, middle, and
bottom. Have the children close their eyes while you hide the Peter Rabbit card behind a watering can. Then, invite
children to guess where Peter is hiding. Encourage them to use their words as they guess. For example, a child might
say “I think Peter is hiding there.” You would respond with “You mean this card in the top row, in the middle?” If the
child nods or says yes encourage him or her to repeat the complete sentence, “I think Peter is hiding behind the can
in the top row in the middle.” Once the child has guessed, he or she can remove the card to see if they were right.

****NORTH POINT WILL NEED TO MAKE THESE BUNNY BAGS FOR THE EASTER EGG HUNT!!!****
The bags do not have to look exact ly like the pict ure. Feel free to paint the bags, use wiggly eyes, etc.
Cut a letter 'U' shape out of the top of a folded paper bag down to about the center of the bag. Now draw a
bunny rabbit's face on the bag by drawing the parts of the face.. t riangular-ish nose.. .2 letter 'u' shapes for the
mouth. Lines for whiskers, and a circle for each eye. Get a cotton ball and paste it to the back of the bag for a
cotton tail. Overlap the ears and staple them together.. or paste them together. Draw pink ovals in the ears.
Candy and treats can be placed in the bags.
You will need to staple a handle to the bag once it is complete.

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick
This t ime, the hungry old lady swallows a chick, some straw, an egg, some candy, a basket, and a bow!
And just as she's hopping and skipping along, who should she meet but the Easter Bunny! Watch what happens

Make a storytelling necklace to help them remember what happened in the book.
Feed the Old Lady with pict ures of the story- great circle t ime act ivity!
Math act ivity- Write numbers on eggs. Match the correct number of chicks to the eggs.
Life Cycle of a Chick- Use the cards and manipulat ive to show the order of the life cycle of a chicken.
Five Litt le Chicks
With squirms and squeals, five chicks scratch around the farmyard to find their breakfast. One by one, the chicks
st umble upon the most unusual snacks--from a fuzzy butterfly to a shiny trout in the farm pond. Fort unately,
Mama Hen is right there to point them back in the right direct ion.
Chicks in the Barnyard- Cut five-ten chick shapes out of yellow felt. Make a large yarn circle on a felt board or
carpet square for a barnyard. Let them put chicks in and out of the barnyard.
Matching Chicks and Eggs- You will need four plast ic eggs in four different colors and four poms of corresponding

Humpty Dumpty
The Hats of Humpty Dumpty- This act ivity is all about the different colored hats Humpty Dumpty wears. I do not
have a template for this one, so you will need to draw Humpty onto a piece of felt and you can staple it to a folder
(if you want it to be st urdier). Then cut out different colored hats out of felt. After reading the story below
several t imes, have your child put the different colored hats on while you read the story.
The Hats of Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty laughed and said, Where did I put my hat of RED?
Did I put it by the light?
No, it's only my hat of WHITE.
Did I put it in my shoe?
No, there's my hat of BLUE.
Maybe it's by the maple surple? Goodness, it's my hat of PURPLE!
Look by my bowl of porridge, Oh, it's my hat of ORANGE!
Did I lay it by my clown?
No, that's my hat of BROWN!
Could it be in the frying pan? There's my hat of TAN.
Look by the box of jello, Nope, it's my hat of YELLOW!
Is it by the kitchen sink? It's my hat of PINK!
Did I put it in my washing machine? No, it's my hat of GREEN!
Where, oh where, is my hat of red? Silly me, it's on my head!
Uh Oh!
This is my favorite Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme act ivity! Bring a hard boiled egg and a non cooked egg (both
st ill in shells) to circle t ime along with a metal cookie sheet and some blocks to build a wall.. one block for each child.
Ask the children to help you build a wall. Count as you build! Once done, teach them the nursery rhyme. Recite it
several t imes.
Ask why they think Humpty fell off the wall? Show pict ures of this nursery rhyme and show that Humpty is
shown as an egg!
Now, ask what will happen if you place the egg on the wall you all built?
Try to balance the non cooked egg and then recite the poem and let the egg fall.. ewwwwwww!
Now recite it again with the hard boiled egg.. Wow! Looks different!
Have the children describe the differences.
Now ask, about each egg, "Do you think all the kings horses and all the kings men could put THIS Humpty together
again?" "What about this one?"
Humpty Dumpty Egg Puzzles- Cut out egg (oval) shapes and cut them into puzzle pieces. Have the children put
Humpty Dumpty together again using colorful band-aids.
Play - Build a wall for Humpty Dumpty- Build a wall for Humpty Dumpty using blocks. This is a fun way to bring play into
our explorat ion of the nursery rhyme.
Humpty Dumpty Sensory Bin- Add blocks, horses, plast ic eggs to explore the nursery rhyme.
Humpty Dumpty Science- You will need six boiled eggs for the experiment. Draw a face on the eggs. You will need
six sandwich bags filled with different materials like: marbles, foam padding, bubble wrap, feather, shredded paper
and beans. Discuss how they feel: soft, hard, light, heavy, etc. Predict whether the egg will crack when dropped
in the different bags. After the predict ions, have the drop from a table. (Say the nursery rhyme as you are
dropping the eggs) Observe which ones cracked and which ones did not.
