Father-Daughter Summit Overview
Father-Daughter Summit Overview Healthy father-daughter bonds result in decreased rates of promiscuity, substance abuse, dropping out of high school, image obsession, depression and even suicide. To strengthen communication and enhance time spent together between daughters and their dads, the National Center for Fathering has created a seven-session conference including general, dad-only/daughter-only, and one-on-one sessions. We call this interactive day of learning the Father-Daughter Summit. Since 2003, the National Center for Fathering has conducted 29 Father-Daughter Summit events reaching 9,600 fathers and daughters. Benefits of the Father-Daughter Summit Creates an environment to break down walls Puts tools in a father’s toolbox to connect with his daughter Provides a rich opportunity to get away from distractions and focus on each other Dads realize they aren’t alone in the challenge of connecting with their daughter Gives the benefits of NCF research and insights to help fathers understand the unique needs of their daughters Teaches fathers and daughters how to have meaningful discussions down the road To achieve the outcomes of the Summit experience, the program provides a fun, welcoming and highly interactive environment. It guides fathers and daughters through a series of exercises and learning experiences that teach basic principles about the relationships between dads and daughters while also helping each participant to explore deeply personal issues that must be addressed in order to successfully reach the relational summit. Significant Results: Prior to attending the Summit, 35% of daughters surveyed were very to extremely satisfied with their relationship with their father. Six weeks after the event, 83% of these same daughters were very to extremely satisfied with their relationship with their father. The National Center for Fathering currently has resources to present a maximum of 8 FatherDaughter Summits per year, affecting the lives of 3,200 fathers and daughters. Our vision is to develop financial and programming partners to reach 10,000 fathers and daughters annually. For more information on the Father-Daughter Summit, visit www.fathers.com/summit.
