Krauss Electronic
Support GmbH
Krauss Electronic-Support GmbH, a German EMS company, is located close to AdoptSMT Germany GmbH,
Paderborn. When Dieter Krauss started in 1993 to produce his first PCB assemblies with a solder machine
in his house, he did not believe that less than 20 years later this will develop into a company with millions
of turnover.
Before starting his own company Dieter Krauss gained experience during 17 years he worked for Nixdorf
in Paderborn. In some of these years also Thomas Winter, managing Director of AdoptSMT Germany GmbH
and main contact of the AdoptSMT Group for Mr. Krauss, was a colleague at Nixdorf.

Already 4 years after starting the rooms in
Paderborn-Sande were becoming too small and
Krauss moved the production to Ostenland,
Brucknerstraße. One year later, 1998, the close
partnership with AdoptSMT started. The 200m²
Krauss occupied after the move to Ostenland did
not last long, but there were possibilities to expand
at these premises and Krauss did add further
rooms and halls in a few steps.
The new SMT assembly hall
In 2001 Krauss transformed his company into a
limited corporation (GmbH) and his daughter Sylvia
Metzner took over a leading position. She was
helping in the production also before. Today she is
responsible for all commercial matters of Krauss
Electronic-Support GmbH and is planning to lead
the company in second generation.
The partnership between Krauss Electronic-Support GmbH and the AdoptSMT Group was deepened and
widened over the years. Additional services were started like technical assistance, spare parts support and
feeder service.
When in 2008 customers demanded more capacity the partner to establish this was at hand. The new enlarged SMT assembly area got planned jointly between Krauss and AdoptSMT. The capacity was more than
doubled with two complete identical assembly lines AdoptSMT sourced for Krauss. Each includes an Ekra
In-line printer, three Siplace pick and place machines, reflow oven and board handling. After the planning
was completed and the decision was made AdoptSMT delivered and installed the two lines and trained
Krauss personnel for operation and maintenance.
Even this big expansion wasn’t the last step. Today
Krauss Electronic-Support GmbH occupies 1,800 m²
- starting from 200 m² after moving to Ostenland.
Only a few weeks ago Krauss Electronic-Support GmbH
moved the four SMT lines into a new hall to optimize
the work process.
AdoptSMT was the chosen partner also for this project. All four lines were moved within one week,
during this time at least two lines were always in full
operation. Each line was moved to the new hall, set
up and installed. Some minor repairs and updates
were also performed at this time. After the machines
were started up successfully a part of the team
started disassembling the next line while the other
part of the team was ramping up production on the
Line 3 after it was installed by AdoptSMT in 2008
moved line. This way at least two lines were always
running and Krauss was able to get products out –
although with lower output than in usual weeks. It was essential for the success of this time wise very ambitious project that the personnel of both parties worked together as partners rather than “just” supplier and
customer.
New offices are close to getting finished. Additional
expansion is still possible at the occupied facility
and the way the business is going this will be done
in the next years.
Krauss Electronic-Support GmbH manufactures with
a qualified staff of 31 electronic assemblies and
electronic controls for medical applications, agricultural machines and industrial electronics. Renowned
companies worldwide are customers, but the greatest strength is with regional customers. More than
half of the 80 customers are located nearby.

specification, from prototype and small batches up

The original concept of the Feeder Test Jig as it was then called was to only
mechanically index Fuji CP4/3 and CP6 feeders, later a camera was added to
check the pick position, and the rest is history.
The latest equipment from FeederMaster is their Digital version which has been
designed and manufactured to meet today’s exacting standards in feeder accuracy. It has been developed using the experience and success of its predecessor
and raising feeder testing and calibrating to a new higher level.

The FeederMaster Digital
Feeder Range
The new FeederMaster Digital is designed with
the same unique interchangeability of base which
allows the end user to test a range of different
feeder types, at present Siemens, Fuji NXT, Juki
and Assembleon GEM feeders. We are developing
other popular feeder type that would benefit from
using the FeederMaster Digital.
It now has a Digital Camera system with which
the new embedded PC and software can capture
store and analyze images of the feeder running at
machine speed. To achieve this we use our existing
master tape and measure if there are any deviations in the pick position.
CPK Measurement
From the data recorded above this is then used
to calculate the feeders CPK value. Which is a
measurement of its repeatable accuracy.
As the trend is for manufactures to use Electronic /
Electrical Feeders the system now has a Max
current reading that is shown and stored in the
feeder data base for every feeder tested.

This 2D bar code reader enables you to either
read the manufactures unique feeder number label
or read the label that can be generated manually
using the system.
When you have performed the calibration of any
feeder using the system it is stored under its unique
number displaying all the readings that were taken
during each test.
