Start your tour at one of the largest attractions on the Outer Banks - just 5 miles from Nags Head. This vibrant educational, history and
cultural arts complex is a lively center of activity daily from March - December 31 - 9a.m. to 5p.m. and includes several educational
venues. Group rates (10 or more) are $3.75 students and $6.00 adults (2 complimentary tickets per bus). Prices as of Dec 30, 2010.
The centerpiece of the 25-acre island park, across from the Manteo NC waterfront, is the Elizabeth II,
a representation of one of the seven English ships from the Roanoke Voyage of 1585. Climb aboard and help
set the sails, plot your course and swab the decks!
The American Indian Town features opportunities for guests to learn about the vital and vibrant
culture, heritage, and traditions of the American Indians in our region. It includes a wide variety of true-toscale structures, role-play environments, and places to explore, plant, dance, build and play.
Live the life of a 16th century settler in the Settlement Site. Step into the lives of these
soldiers and sailors by practicing traditional woodworking, playing Elizabethan era games,
and watching the blacksmith fashion his 16th century wares. There is also opportunity to look
through the settlement’s tents and supplies and try on armor like a real 16th century English
soldier or try a straw and feather bed.
Travel through over four hundred years of history while exploring the Roanoke
Adventure Museum. In this interactive museum, guests will experience the history of
Roanoke Island and the Outer Banks, beginning with the time of the Roanoke Voyages. It’s an up close and
hands on glimpse into the region’s vibrant past, allowing visitors to see, hear, and feel the journey of historyfrom boat building to shipwrecks; from pirates to lighthouse keepers; from the Lost Colony to the Freedmen’s
Colony; from the Civil War to the early 1900’s.
The Legend of Two-Path film recounts the Roanoke story from a different perspective that of the American Indians living here with the English first arrived.
Art and creativity is also a focal point at Roanoke Island Festival Park. In the Art Gallery,
artists of all different types have the opportunity to showcase their work in art shows. Past art
shows have featured fiber, clay, wood, metal, paint, pencil, pastel, photography, stone, mixed
media, and much more.
Additional programming includes the Roanoke Island Festival Park Performance
Series. Some of North Carolina’s best young talent performs offering year round music, dance,
drama, opera and children shows for the community and visitors to enjoy. Visit our Web site at

Experience the serene nature surrounding the park while strolling on the Boardwalk. Skirting one side
of the park, the gentle walk promises a world of vibrant green flora and water views. A Picnic Area is available
and a Fossil Pit.

by the Museum Store for a unique treasure of your adventures.
