What Is Lymphedema? Lymphedema, also known as lymphatic obstruction, is a condition of localized fluid retention and tissue swelling caused by a compromised lymphatic system. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS? The main symptom is persistent or chronic swelling of the arm or leg.
