Die Profilringe an der oberen Mundrohrzwinge spezifizieren die Mensuren: I (M), II (ML), III (L). The rings on the mouthpiece receiver specify the tapers of the leadpipes: I (M), II (ML), III (L).
Der Name „Meister Johannes Scherzer“ steht für
höchste Fertigungskunst in traditioneller Handarbeit.
Im Jahre 1900 gründete Emil Knoth die Rino-Werkstätte in Markneukirchen,
nachdem er ab 1884 im vogtländischen Schöneck bei August Richard Penzel den
Beruf des Metallblasinstrumentenmachers erlernte.

Noch vor Eröffnung der eigenen Werkstatt erwarb er zusätzliche Kenntnisse
in der bekannten Firma August Reichel jun. in Markneukirchen.
Sein Sohn Kurt Knoth übernahm 1935 die Werkstatt in der Mosenstraße 13,
welche dann dessen Neffe Johannes Scherzer nach den Wirren des Krieges
übernahm, als er 1951 seine Meisterprüfung ablegte.
Die Scherzer-Werkstatt wurde erst 1984 in die Blechblas- und Signalinstrumentenfabrik (B&S) integriert, die dann 1991 in die Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik
(heute JA Musik) überführt wurde.
So werden auch in Zukunft klingende Kostbarkeiten von einzigartiger Güte
unter dem Namen „Meister Johannes Scherzer“ geschaffen, die die lange
Tradition seiner Werkstatt fortsetzen.
The name „Meister Johannes Scherzer” continues a long tradition
and is a name found only on the highest quality trumpets made by hand.
Since 1884 Emil Knoth studied and worked in Schöneck/Vogtland with August Richard Penzel.
In 1900 he founded the Rino workshop in Markneukirchen.
Even before the opening of his own workshop he acquired additional knowledge in the well-known
firm August Reichel jun. in Markneukirchen.
Emil’s son Kurt Knoth then took over and moved the workshop to Mosenstraße 13 where his
nephew Johannes Scherzer took over after receiving his master craftsman‘s certificate in 1951.
The pursuit of excellence continued, when in 1984 the master workshop of Johannes Scherzer
was integrated into the state-owned enterprise B&S (Blechblas- und Signalinstrumentenfabrik)
and then in 1991 the Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik.
Today it has its home in the JA Musik Group producing trumpets in tradition and perfection.
