Bonded Valve Body Separator PlatesGaskets
The valve body separator plate and gaskets for the 4L60E family has been a three-piece design
since inception in 1993.
Starting with some 2006 models General Motors, starting producing the valve body separator
plate with the gaskets bonded to the plate.
The new bonded separator plates have three screens sandwiched between the gasket and the
plate. Two of the screens are in the same locations as the early style plates that use screens
that snap into the plate. The third screen was added to the same oil circuit (actuator feed limit)
as the previous two. The purpose of the third screen is to recoup some of the filtering surface
area that is lost due to the new flat screens (see illustration below for locations).
This kit includes part number B36483 which is the lower gasket and B36484, the upper gasket.
Both gaskets will have an orange stripe for easy identification. Use of these gaskets will require
installation of the original snap in screens. Since the original snap-in screens supply enough
filtering surface area, no screen is necessary at the new (third) location.

New bonded plates have flat
screens at these locations.

No screen needed here when using
original style snap-in screens at
locations marked by “X”.
After removing gaskets from bonded plate, use valve body
gaskets with orange stripe along with the original snap-in
screens at the two locations marked by an “X”.
