Easter Brunch, Sunday, April 20th
The Easter Brunch will be held on this date and the
Club’s upper level dining facilities will be closed to
accommodate this event. The entire upper level of
the Clubhouse will close at 4:00pm on Easter Sunday
following brunch. Regular lunch service will be held in
the Turnberry Grille until 7:00pm. We hope you enjoy
your Easter celebration!
Mother’s Day Brunch, Sunday, May 11th
The Mother’s Day Brunch will be held on this date and
the Club’s Upper Level dining facilities will be closed
to accommodate this event. The entire upper level of
the Clubhouse will close at 4:00pm following brunch.
Regular lunch service will be held in the Turnberry Grille
until 7:00pm. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our St Ives
moms!
Memorial Day*, Monday, May 26th
Regular lunch service will be held in the Turnberry Grille
until 7:00pm. The Main Dining Room will be closed for
the entire day. Our annual cookout will be held at the
Pool beginning at 12:00pm. We hope you enjoy your
Memorial Day with us at the pool!
*The club will be open on Monday, May 26th, Memorial
Day, and closed on Tuesday May 27th.

Men’s Member Guest, June 4th - June 7th
The Turnberry Mixed and Men’s Grille will be closed on
these dates in order to accommodate the Men’s Member
Guest Golf Tournament.

The Club’s Dining Room and Main Bar will be closed for
the evening in order to accommodate the Annual Men’s
Member Guest Awards Reception. Dinner service will not
be held on this date but we look forward to serving you
the following week!

Holiday Schedule &
Club Closings
As we venture out of one of the
coldest and wettest winters in years,
we can rest assured that spring
is right around the corner! I am
pleased to say the activity level
in the Clubhouse has been above
expectations considering the weather
this year. We are preparing for the busy season:
finalizing budgets, meeting with committees, as well as
all of the usual spring and summer activities that will
be taking place here at the Club.
There were some unexpected renovation projects due
to bursting pipes from the recent cold weather. The
bathrooms at the turn and on hole #15 have been
completely renovated and are now open. There was
also work done at the Grounds and Tennis facilities as
well as the entrance to the Clubhouse.
I urge you to help us protect your Club. You will see
from the pictures above that there’s been vandalism
at the Club recently. While we unfortunately expect
some from time to time it has increased as of late.
We urge all members to report any activity that
does not appear normal to either the Club or to
the local authorities. Know the Club can and will
prosecute any individuals caught vandalizing your
Club property. I have also received several reports of
Members using the Golf Course on Mondays as well
as walking their animals on the Course and around
the Tennis Center. Please remember the Club/Course
is closed on Mondays and no pets are allowed on
property.
I would like to thank everyone who has participated in
the photography drive at the Club. The Club recently
partnered with American Club Directories to take
portraits of our Members. While they’re normally
at a club for 2-3 weeks, they will be at St Ives from
5-6 weeks due to the incredible response. One of the
great benefits of this is the Club gets a copy of all the
pictures to put in to our Member data base. This will
greatly assist in staff training and Member recognition
in the future.

enthusiastic participation in all that your Club has to

warm weather? February
certainly surprised us again
with weather that was worthy
of winter far north of us! It was
beautiful though, and I trust
that you fared through it well,
safe and warm. As March comes in, I am hoping
for sunny, clear days so you all can have a chance
to get out and enjoy all that St Ives has to offer!

Membership Update:
As our fiscal year comes to a close, we want to
note that we are seeing a trend in the area to
increasing Initiation Fees.
As our 25th Anniversary year comes to a close,
we may be moving towards a slightly higher
fee as our first step towards reasserting our
Initiation Fee back to more pre-recession levels.
If you know of anyone who is considering
joining St Ives, please do let them know that
there never will be a better time than now, and
that the special program will most likely be
gone very soon. There is no exact date as of yet,
but I wanted to give everyone an opportunity
to let their friends and associates know.
Thank you!
By the way…the “Father Daughter Dance”
was adorable! So sweet to see the Dad’s with
their little ones all dressed up. It’s a wonderful
tradition at the Club, and it’s a pleasure each year.

Seating times are 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:30, 2:00,
and 2:30.
Always a great holiday tradition in every country club, the
annual Easter spread will be unmatched in its wonderful
and lavish selection of foods. Bring your family and
special guests to the club for this grand affair and let us
take the worry out of cooking.
In order to accommodate as many St Ives families as
possible, parties of up to 4 people will have a seating-time
duration of an hour and a half and parties of 5 or more
will have a seating-time duration of 2 hours. As a courtesy
to your fellow members, please arrive and depart promptly
for your reservation.
The price for this special annual event is $32.00 for
adults; $18.00 for children 8-11; $11.00 for children 4-7.
Children 3 and under are complimentary.
Jackets are required for gentlemen 16 and older and ladies
should be appropriately attired. Denim and athletic attire
are not permitted.

Message From The Pro
March is the official start of the
Golf Season and I hope you are
all excited about playing more
golf this year than ever!
March brings the kick-off of
our instructional programs. We
have made some significant
changes to expand our junior golf programs this
year. We have added a new age group this year
starting at age four and modified the times of
our classes. We are also offering a new US Kids
Golf certification program, as well as PGA Junior
Golf League. Please read on for all the details
and be sure to sign up while space is available!
The Junior Golf Clinics begin the week of March
11th.
Returning again for our women golfers are the
spring clinics for beginners and intermediate
players. The beginner and intermediate clinics
are scheduled on Fridays starting March 28th and
run for 8 weeks. Intermediate clinics will spend
50% of the time on the Course. These clinics
are a great way to introduce you to the game or
simply kick-start your golf game for the season.
Our tournament calendar for the year is complete
and can be found on the St Ives Country Club
Website. A couple of minor changes were made
to a few events late in the fall. Details of all the
events will be available in our tournament booklet
that you will receive later this month.

Spring Blitz
Saturday, March 15th
9:30am Shotgun Start
The format for this year’s opening
event will be two net best balls
of four. Sign up as a team or
individually. This tournament is
open to all male and female Full
Privilege and Corporate Members.
Each player will be given 90% of his/her handicap from
the corresponding tees. The cost for this event is $50.00
and includes hors d’oeuvres, green beer, prizes and
winner payouts.
St Ives Guest Day
Wednesday, March 12th
Back by popular demand is St Ives
Guest Day. The Guest Day allows
you to bring up to seven guests for
$50.00 per guest. That includes
their green fee, cart fee and lunch
in the Turnerry Grille.
Enjoy an afternoon and invite your friends or business
associates and show off our beautiful Course. There is no
tournament with Guest Day and it runs all day, so call to
make your tee time in advance.

If you are a member of SIWGA, the dues for 2014 are
$70.00 for 18 Holers and $35.00 for 9 Holers. The dues
were billed on your February statement and there will be
no refunds after the Opening Luncheon on March 19th.

February 19th in the Mayfair Room. It was well
attended and it was great to see friends, as well as
welcome the new members to SIWGA.

to the coffee and gave us updates on the Golf Course and
the Greens.
Mollie Boney, the new PGA Assistant Professional,
shared with us about her background and the Golf
Fitness Program at St Ives that she is conducting for 6
weeks (see article on right).

beginning with the short game and moving all the way
up to course management. We will be on the Course

Spring Junior Golf Clinics
The junior golf programs were a huge success in 2013
with most of the clinics and camps being full. Spring is
right around the corner and approaching fast, now is the
time to sign up for Spring Clinics and Summer Camps,
while space is available!
Spring Golf Clinics will cover all the fundamentals of
the golf swing and playing on the Golf Course. Full
swing with irons and woods, chipping, putting, course
management, and rules of golf are some of the lessons
that our Professional Staff will be demonstrating to you
and your classmates. Feel free to bring family members
and friends. Students do not need to be members of St

PGA Junior League
Golf
This is an exciting new team-based
learning opportunity for junior golfers designed to bring
a “Little League” atmosphere to the game of golf.
With teams of boys and girls, ages 13 and under, this
program provides a structured league environment for
junior golfers to compete and have fun.
The local teams will consist of 4 - 7 teams within
reasonable geographic proximity. Competitions consist
of three 3-hole segments (“flags”), which allow for
substitutions between flags, giving everyone a chance to
play. The league season runs from May 1st - July 31st
with championships to follow.
Each player will receive:
• Two practice and coaching sessions
• Team jersey
• Golf balls
• Bag tag
• Flag stickers (based on competitions won) which affix
to their bag tag
The team is limited to 16 players. Sign up quickly as

An exciting new learning opportunity for junior golfers
(Ages 6 - 14) combines the U.S. Kids Learning Program
with the St Ives Junior Golf Program.
The program consists of three levels. Each level will
cover five subjects: putting, around the green, full swing,
knowledge and scoring. Each level includes checkpoints,
which students must pass in order to graduate onto the
next level. Achievement pins are awarded
for each successfully passed level, which can
be displayed on the student’s complimentary
U.S. Kids hat.
The class is limited to 12 students. Sign up quickly as
spots will fill up fast!
The cost is $220.00 for Members and $240.00 for guests.
Junior Build Your Own
Lesson Plan
As a service to our many advancing players and those
golfers whose schedules don’t allow participation in
regular clinics, we have created a “Build-Your-Own
Lesson” plan.
This plan revolves around an individual or small group
of junior golfers (1 - 4 Players) and allows one-on-one
instruction with the Golf Professional of your choice.
The Golf Professional will work closely with your child to
create a plan to improve their game.
This plan will include supervised practice sessions,
lessons with the Golf Professional, and structured playing
sessions. Pricing for this plan is à la carte. Four, six and
eight lesson plans are available. Please contact a member
of the golf staff to set up your child’s plan.
Over EIGHT hours of individual coaching!
Total cost for eight hours:
• One Junior: $350.00 per golfer

the first day to fill out emergency contact forms), and
drop off service will be offered on the first day through
the last day of each camp. The service is an additional
$10.00 per house, per day and is only available inside the
St Ives neighborhood. Please let us know if you need this
additional service and the address for student pick up and
drop off.
The cost is $300.00 for Members and $350.00 for guests.
While the guest camp cost includes lunch each day, the
Member cost does not. Lunch is available at the pool for
$7.00 per day.

The St Ives Country Club juniors are ready to compete
and the teams are set for the spring 2014 Junior ALTA
season. St Ives Country Club will be fielding seven
Junior ALTA teams this spring competing in a seven
week season with hopes of winning the ALTA City
Championships.
The competition is tough, but the St Ives Juniors are
ready to show their strength against all opponents.

who are volunteering their time during this Spring

St Ives Country Club Spring Academy Training
Future Champions Red Ball Academy 6 & Under
Designed for beginner to intermediate players ages 6 & under. Future Champions Academy is a perfect opportunity
for children to learn the fundamentals of tennis. Activities focus on building Agility, Balance and Coordination while
developing the on-court skills needed to serve, rally, and score. Prior to moving to the next stage of the Academy these
6 & under players will be able to demonstrate understanding of basic technique and begin rallies with other academy
students.
10 & Under Pre-Academy
Pre-Academy is divided into both beginner and intermediate 10& Under player’s ready to play on the full size quick
start court. The training sessions are designed to continue building athletic skills while learning or refining the skills
necessary to serve, rally and score. These players will demonstrate an understanding of proper technique and maintain
that technique during point and match play. These are players who enjoy league play but have yet to enter tournament
competition.
10 & Under Academy
The Academy is for players who are looking to prepare for the challenge of USTA state sanctioned tournaments. At the
beginning of each session coaches will address proper self-warm-up techniques and have all players begin with this phase.
They are learning to be determined in their own development, and their competitive interests are rising. This group is
fundamentally sound in both movement and technique and beginning work on match and player strategies. Players will
utilize different tactics and strategies and learn early development of their own personal strengths to build upon. USTA
state sanctioned tournaments are emphasized to compete in on a regular basis.
Full Court Green Dot Academy Training Ages 12 & Under
Competitive Green Dot Training Sessions are tournament-level training classes that serve as a potential pathway to the
high performance Champions Program. The Full Court Green Dot Academy challenge players with high intensity green
dot training sessions. Practices will consist of a 15-30 minute fitness session followed by progressive dead ball training, live
ball and consistency work, and supervised point and match play.
Full Court Academy 12 & Up
The primary goal of the Academy is to provide a consistent and encouraging learning environment that encourages each
junior to reach his or her full personal tennis potential.
The Academy will challenge the students through different drills, conditioning and match strategy. Monthly tactical

TGIF!
Logo Mug Program at the Cabana
Join us for TGIF poolside from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
We will offer a different menu theme each night*, a full
bar by signature and a DJ to keep you entertained!
For our 5th summer, we will sell nice insulated logo mugs
at the pool in an effort to cut down on paper/plastic
waste and trash at the pool.
The following are the TGIF dates for this summer:
• May 16th, 23rd, 30th
• June 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
• July 11th
• August 1st
• September 5th
As always, we will begin selling the mugs on opening
weekend through the first couple of weeks or until we
have sold out. The new mugs sold at the beginning of
each season are always a new color so you must purchase
and use this year’s mug in order to benefit from the
complimentary beverages for the first summer of use. If
you use last year’s mug, regular beverage pricing will apply.
We certainly encourage use of last year’s mugs.
*The Cabana will offer a limited menu of snacks and
beverages during the TGIF events and a full bar will be
available. Watch for details of the weekly TGIF themes
in the April newsletter.
Registration and Guest Check-in
We kindly remind you that
all Members are required to
check in at the registration
desk with each visit and to
register their guests as well.
The price per NEW mug is $10.95 and as long as you use
this mug at the Cabana, you will receive complimentary
fountain sodas and iced tea ALL SUMMER LONG!
The price if you use mugs from previous years is $1.50
for fountain soda and $1.50 for iced tea.
In order to receive the complimentary beverage, you
must have the mug with you when you place your order.
These mugs are not usable in the other areas of the Club.
We will give the children colored markers so they can
have fun decorating them and will remember which mug
is theirs all summer.
We look forward to another fun summer at the St Ives
pool!
Swim And Dive Teams - 2014 News
We are looking forward to another great year of swimming and diving at St Ives! We are excited to announce that our
Swim Team coach from last year, Sasha Stolz, will be returning as Head Coach for the Swim Team!
Please join us for registration for the 2014 Swim and Dive Teams on one of the following dates:
• Wednesday, March 12th - 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Main Clubhouse Lobby
• Wednesday, April 16th - 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Main Clubhouse Lobby
Registration cost is $100.00 per swimmer with a 10% discount for additional siblings. A late registration fee of $25.00 per
swimmer will be applied for all registrations received after April 16th. We will have some Spirit Wear options for you to
consider at the registration along with order forms.

Swimsuit Update
TYR has once again discontinued last year’s swim suits so we are working with our vendor to find a suit similar in color
to last years. They will be onsite at both registrations for fittings and to take orders. After April 16th, you will need to
purchase your suit directly from Kastaway at their Dynamo store on McGinnis Ferry Rd. 770.667.3933
