Groot Marico – All fans of writer Herman Charles Bosman are familiar with the
annual Bosman Weekend which takes place the third weekend in October (16
to 18 October this year). Dear Friends of Groot Marico and the HC Bosman
Literary Society...
For the past decade or so, a Biekie Bosman weekend was held in March. This
was a totally relaxed and laid-back weekend – still in the Marico Bushveld; but
with less people.
Santa van Bart of the Groot Marico Information Centre says when the Drogedal
Committee started debating the form of this year’ s Biekie Bosman weekend,
and cut it down to two good suggestions on the table.

weekend at the River Still Guestfarm in Groot Marico. “After debating for most

So we decided to do both.”

The programme is informal with the focus on Bosman story reading, tree outings and hiking up the mountain to the waterfall for those interested. “We cook
together, kuier, make music and just enjoy the magic of the Marico,” says Santa.
The cost is R320 per person for the weekend... and that includes accommodation (or camping fee) as well as all the meals. The local Marico members as

The Biekie Bosman Story Weekend will take place at River Still Guest Farm
from 13 to 15 March. There
will be activities like story
reading and music around the
FDPS ¿UH QDWXUH DQG PDPpoer outings, Sound Journeys
and Drumming Workshops;
as well as discussions on poetry and story-writing.
The accommodation is located on the Marico River and
guests have a choice of cottages with ensuite rooms and
equipped for self-catering.
The cost of the accommodation is R275 per person per
night .
