VOL. 6 ISSUE 7 MARCH 1, 2015 GREATER MT. ZION BAPTIST CHURCH • 1801 PENNSYLVANIA AVE. AUSTIN TEXAS 78702 • LEAD PASTOR GAYLON CLARK Join our Prayer Evangelism Team GMZ Women’s “Whatever house you enter, first say, “Peace be to this Retreat house.” And whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near you” ~ Luke 10:5,8,9 P rayer aligns us with the work of God and allows us the privilege of participating in his plan. We have seen changes in the spiritual atmosphere in Austin. With these changes has come an openness to prayer. The majority of people today claim prayer as part of their regular way of life, and although there is great departure in to whom they pray and how they pray, the act of prayer can be common ground for us. In light of these realities, we have discovered prayer to be an effective means for evangelism, but also prayer as evangelism. Prayer Evangelism starts by “talking to God about our neighbors before we talk to our neighbors about God.” When we enter situations speaking peace and bringing a blessing, when we build relationships with others based on love and trust, or when we respond to the needs of others with tangible acts of kindness, the Holy Spirit breaks down defenses and prepares people’s hearts to receive Christ naturally. We are now training and building a core team to help lead our church as prayer evangelists. Please pray about joining our team. Our first prayer evangelism outreach is scheduled for May 30 at 10a.m. Contact Denise Sockwell at [email protected] for more information.
