ON YOUR MARK GET SET PLAY YOUTH SPORTS (AGES 3-4) EAST VALLEY FAMILY YMCA BASKETBALL (Ages 3-4) Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring For girls and boys, our 3-4 year old basketball program is a parent-child participation program that emphasizes skill development, self-esteem, fair play and fun while teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Our program is for children who have little or no sports experience and want to learn more and improve their skills in this 45-minute class. This is an excellent opportunity for parent/child interaction in a positive class environment. This is offered at East Valley Family YMCA and Berryessa Youth Center SOCCER (Ages 3-4) Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring Our soccer program is for girls and boys who want to develop skills, self-esteem and teamwork while learning the fundamentals of soccer. The whole family can get involved with this program that is designed for children with little or no experience. It’s an excellent opportunity to introduce your child to soccer without the complexity of league play. This is offered at East Valley Family YMCA We also offer Family Yoga, Youth/Teen Booth Camp, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Ballet, Rock Climbing, Private Basketball Training, Swim lessons, Parent’s Night Outs, Birthday Packages, 1-2-3 Grow, Kids Club, After School and Childcare Programs and more. Visit our website at evymca.org for details REGISTRATION AND FACILITY ACCESS POLICIES TO REGISTER Visit the East Valley Family YMCA. If you are not currently a YMCA Facility Member, you can access YMCA programs as a Program Member with a $25 Program Membership fee annually per person, plus the cost of the program. Program Fees include 8 sessions 45 minutes. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE East Valley Family YMCA is a nonprofit organization. Membership and programs are open to everyone. Financial assistance is available. To apply, pick-up a confidential application at our member services desk or download one online. PARENTAL SUPERVISION Children under the age of 8 must have a parent/ guardian present in the soccer arena during practices and games. Siblings and friends of participant must be supervised at all times. Facility members 8 and old may enter the facility on their own when they present a valid membership card. Program members must be accompanied by a parent/ guardian at all times regardless of age. PARENT INVOLVEMENT All YMCA youth sports leagues are required to have a coach, as a result we highly encourage parents to get involved by coaching or to be an assistant coach. Training is provided and no experience is necessary. We will fingerprint and conduct background checks for all volunteers. GET INVOLVED FACILITY ACCESS POLICY Parent/ guardian and any guest 18 years and older must present A valid membership card or photo ID when entering the Facility. A parent/guardian must be present at practices and games. Any participant dropped off at the curb, will NOT be allowed to enter the facility. If carpooling arrangements have been made, written approval with parents ID is needed as proof of authorization. REFUND/ CANCELLATION POLICY All cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Cancellations before the beginning of a season are eligible for a refund and require written directors approval. Cancellation requested after the start of the season are charged for the practices/ games that have been held so far, regardless of attendance as well as the $15 processing fee. The remaining balance is credited back to your Y account for use in future programs. Refunds due to medical reasons must be accompanied by a doctor’s note for the processing to be waived. DIVISION/ LOCATION CHANGES & TRANSFERS Transfers of sessions are only possible if classes are available, and are subject to a $15 transfer fee. MISSED CLASSES We cannot provide prorated registration fees, credits or refunds for missed practices/games. Make-up practices/games are subject to gym availability and are not guaranteed. WHAT TO EXPECT AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT TIME IS PRACTICES All practices are based off of our gym availability and soccer field. WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICES/ GAMES On the first day of practices children and parents will be called into the center of the gym/soccer field. Y staff will then indicate where each team will practices and introduce the coach. Coaches will then take roll and ensure that all players are present. HOW LONG IS A SEASON The summer season is 9 weeks long beginning the 3rd week of July and ending the second week of September. The first week of practices there will be no games. The game will start the second week of the season. HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED Teams are formed once returning players and free agents are assigned. The teams are based off the following components: practices times, returning experienced players, and free agents drafts comprised of novices and intermediate players. CAN I MAKE A TEAM/FRIEND REQUEST We will no longer accept any team or friend request. Parents may only register by selecting from available practice time slots offered for specific divisions. Please review the summer practices schedule to review your options. IM INTERESTED IN COACHING/ GETTING INVOLVED If you are interested in coaching or getting involved there is a simple process to follow. First, start off by checking the corresponding boxes on the registration portion of this form. Second, we will arrange an appointment to fingerprint you at a convenient time and location. Finally, attend one of our coaching clinics. We are a volunteer-based program and the success of our program depends on parent support and involvement. For details, please contact 408 715 6500 or [email protected] WHATS MY ROLE AS A PARENT Your role is support your child’s sports experience as much as possible. You can do this by doing the following: Attend all practices and games with your child and be attentive and observant, put the cell phones and tablets away. Kids grow up fast, so enjoy every moment of it. Always be positive, praise and recognize effort. Never yell out commands or discipline your child from the sidelines. Get involved and help support your child’s team by coordinating a snack schedule and get to know other parents. This is how kids learn how to have healthy community relationships. WHEN BRINGING SNACKS/DRINKS When bringing snacks, please avoid all items made with or around peanuts and other tree nuts. Communicate with Y staff and parents of any allergies your child may have. Please avoid any unhealthy snack/ drink choices at all cost. BUILDING CONFIDENT STRONGER KIDS REGISTRATION FORM (One form per person, please print clearly) Whether you’re new to Basketball or soccer, a seasoned athlete or somewhere in between, everyone will get equal practices time and game time. As a result, we will do everything we can to ensure a well balanced and fun league. We will no longer accept or honor any friend request, parents may only request a prefered practice time, permitting there is space on the desired time slot. Each team will have a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advacned players. All teams are required to have a volunteer coach. If parent coach is not available a Y staff coach can be assigned if one may become available; however, a parent or volunteer must accompany and assist the team when traveling to the Northwood Field. A Y staff coach assigned to a team will not travel with the team. Training is provided for all volunteer coaches, no experience is required. Date I have read and understand the information above.
