LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
A LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
Hello HBCU Family!
In this issue of HBCUCONNECT.COM Magazine you will find more profiles from our
database of over 1.2 million members. We received hundreds (if not thousands) of
biography submissions to review for this issue of our alumni magazine, and selected just under 100 profiles to
feature. So if you submitted and were not included, make sure to resubmit for our next issue, and stay connected
via our website and newsletter to receive our call for submissions letter.
For those interested in submitting to be listed in a future issue of our member magazine and alumni profiles
directory, be sure to submit on www.hbcuconnect.com/magazine/ and also you must write the brief magazine
biography text in 3rd person about yourself … This saves us a bunch of time when we go to edit and include
submissions for the magazine and is a must!
We look forward to receiving more great alumni profiles to feature in our next issue of HBCUCONNECT.COM
Alumni Magazine!
While we were reviewing submissions for inclusion in this summer’s directory, we came across a profile for Lana
Moorer AKA “MC Lyte” and we reached out to her and her team and secured her cameo for our cover! Many of
us have grown up enjoying MC Lyte’s music and we were delighted to find out that she also is an HBCU Alumna
and member of the board at Dillard University!
MC Lyte had the following to share with our audience:
For years I’ve dreamed of having the ability to help our community in a meaningful way. The charity
I founded, Hip Hop Sisters Foundation, is about redefining the essence of women around the globe
through hip-hop, unity and empowerment. It is my life’s mission to see that those who believe, actually
get the chance to see their dreams come to fruition. With the foundation’s #EducateOURmen initiative,
I am excited about providing numerous men of color with supplemental need-based scholarships to
attend Dillard University in the Fall of 2015. It truly makes me proud to help the younger generation
achieve their fullest potential.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone for staying tuned in to HBCUConnect.com and helping us to stay alive and
relevant with over 1.2 million members since 1999. I am humbled by your support and attention to our work.
We will continue to stay dedicated to bringing you more opportunities in all aspects of your life as thriving
professionals.
Sincerely,
Will Moss | CEO | HBCU CONNECT
