Past. Present. Future.
Reserve your seat for the State of the Chamber
The Wake Forest Area Chamber of
Commerce will be holding its annual investor
and stakeholder luncheon on Tuesday, June 21,
from 11:15 am - 1:00 pm at The Renaissance
Centre in downtown Wake Forest. The cost to
attend is $25 per person. Reservations may be
made online at wakeforestchamber.org.
Presented by CenturyLink, the luncheon will
include a keynote presentation on workforce
development. Robbie Earnhardt, president
of Superior Tooling, will share how the
North Carolina Triangle Apprenticeship
Program is using a hands-on approach
to develop the experts needed in today’s
modern workforce. We’ll learn about the
program’s integrated training module which
develops technical, methodological, and social
skills, and hear how the program has benefitted
both our students and our community.
Also during the annual meeting, we’ll
announce the Wake Forest Chamber’s
2016/17 Program of Work, reflecting on past
accomplishments and looking forward with
new initiatives and goals.
Recognition will also be an integral part of
the annual meeting. The Leadership Wake Forest
class of 2015-16 will graduate, and we’ll present
the prestigious State of the Chamber Awards.
Awards include Small Business of the Year,
Rising Star Business of the Year, Corporate
Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year,
Board Member of the Year, and the Chamber
Hall of Fame Award.

Protect Your Business
Great things happen when women
collaborate! This month, the Women
Business Owners Alliance (wBOA) will
meet on Friday, June 17, from 8:00 - 9:30
am at the Wake Forest Chamber, 350 S.
White Street. Join them for a Power Hour
featuring Lisa Liles of Liles Insurance
Group, Inc. Register online at www.
wakeforestchamber.org.
Lisa Liles to
Lisa will share information about how
protect your business. With more than 20 years of experience
in the insurance industry, Lisa and her team know which
policies and carriers best fit a client’s insurance needs. This
can range from life, disability, long-term care insurance, to
commercial, home and auto insurance.
As an independent insurance agency located in Wake Forest,
Liles Insurance Group provides the same insurance options as
national carriers with more competitive rates. Liles Insurance
Group was voted Best Insurance Agency in 2014 and 2015 in
the Wake Weekly newspaper’s The Best of The Best awards.
Lisa is a member of the Women in Networking Wake Forest
chapter and served as vice president. As a member of Richland
Creek Community Church, she serves as an instructor and
small group leader for Financial Peace University, a series of
sessions helping participants gain the knowledge to become
debt free and better manage their finances.
In 2013, Lisa earned the designation of Certified Builders
Insurance Agent (CBIA), demonstrating her understanding
of construction-related insurance knowledge in the building
industry. Lisa also has designations as a Certified Insurance
Service Representative (CISR) and Long-Term Care Professional
(LTCP). She is licensed in property-casualty, long-term care,
life- health and Medicare supplement.
The Women Business Owners Alliance (wBOA) brings
together women who own independent businesses and
who are members of the Wake Forest Area Chamber of
Commerce. These dynamic female business executives
meet monthly (January – November) to share common
goals, successes, concerns and issues. wBOA’s primary
focus is not traditional networking or lead-generation;
wBOA is a mastermind group designed to promote
collaboration and brainstorming through provocative
speakers and the sharing of business knowledge and
experiences among participants. wBOA discourages
participants from soliciting business or requesting sales
during its meetings or socials.

Representing business, serving the community, and enhancing
the quality of life of Wake Forest is what the Wake Forest Area
Chamber of Commerce is all about. As Chamber investors and
stakeholders, your annual dues help us achieve all of this.
When it is time to renew your investment in the Chamber,
you will see an option on your renewal invoice to join the 100%
Membership Club. By paying an additional 10 percent over
your regular dues, you will help us reduce our debt from the
recent building renovation loan and free up money to spend on
advocacy and programs in the coming fiscal year. If half of our
membership contributes at the 110% level, we can reduce
our debt and pay off the loan six months sooner, not to
mention saving interest payments and improving cash flow.
We hope you will participate in the 110% Membership Club
and help us achieve this goal. Thank you again for investing in

Join the Chamber’s Goodwill Arm
The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassador
Program is now recruiting new members to serve as
ambassadors. The Ambassador Program is the Chamber’s
special group of individuals who work to enhance member
relations, acting as a liaison between the Chamber and its
members.
As an Ambassador, you have the opportunity to be affiliated
with a prestigious organization and participate with your
Chamber on a regular basis. You’ll be an important part of the
Chamber’s growth!
In return, you benefit by making business contacts, receiving
publicity through the Chamber’s newsletter and website, as
well as at Chamber events and functions, and development of
your business leadership skills.
What does an Ambassador do? As the public relations
arm of the Chamber, ambassadors serve as the welcoming
committee for Chamber events such as ribbon cuttings and
groundbreaking ceremonies, Business After Hours, etc. They
also help to recruit new members and provide new leads. Each
ambassador receives a list of new members who become their
“buddies.” You assist in getting these new members involved
in the Chamber and serving as a liaison between the member
and the Chamber.
What type of person makes a good Ambassador? If you have
motivation to be successful, excellent communication skills, a
strong character, and a desire to volunteer, you would make a
great Chamber Ambassador. Apply today!
Ambassadors celebrated the Christmas holiday with an ugly sweater
contest and by collecting toys to be donated to Toys for Tots.

Ambassador Program?

Rogers Road Bridge Replacement Update
Start Date Pushed Back to June 27
Due to the impact of wet weather on a separate job site,
the contractor responsible for replacing the Rogers Road
Bridge that spans Smith Creek has announced it must
delay the start of the project until Monday, June 27. The
N.C. Department of Transportation initiative had been
scheduled to begin June 13.
The Rogers Road Bridge Replacement Project is part of
the NCDOT’s State-Funded Bridge Improvement Program
to improve the overall condition of the state’s bridges. The
department is investing $810 million over four years to
strategically perform preservation or rehabilitation work
when possible.
The Rogers Road Bridge is considered structurally
deficient and functionally obsolete, which means that
although the structure remains safe to use, it has required
constant repairs and should be replaced. In addition, the
bridge was built to design standards that are no longer in
use.
NCDOT will replace the existing two-lane bridge with
a five-lane bridge and widen from two to five lanes the
portion of Rogers Road from Hope Lutheran Church to
Forestville Road. Once completed, the project is expected
to improve capacity and safety and relieve the bottlenecks
that occur in the area during school rush hours.
The closure, which is projected to last until late October
2016, will send the motorists who use the bridge onto
a signed detour route using Heritage Lake Road, the Dr.
Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass and South Main Street.
Electronic message boards announcing the Rogers Road
Bridge closure will be set up on Monday, June 13. The
Town of Wake Forest has fielded numerous calls from
area residents with concerns about the project. Town
officials are urging area drivers that travel through the
area to plan ahead and allow extra time. The town is also
providing several tips for commuters on its website. To
view the safety tips, visit wakeforestnc.gov and search
“Commuters.”
For more information about the Rogers Road Bridge
Replacement Project, including an updated downloadable
detour map, visit wakeforestnc.gov and search “Rogers
Road Bridge” or contact Transportation Planning Manager
Candace Davis, 919-435-9513, [email protected].
