HEADLINERS
AWOLNATION
AWOLNATION began after front man Aaron
Bruno was approached by Red Bull Records
asking if he wanted free use of their LA
recording studio in 2009. After recording
a few songs in the studio he ultimately
signed with the label, calling it more of a
partnership. The band released their debut
album “Megalithic Symphony” in March, 2011
on Red Bull Records. Featuring a total
of 15 tracks, the first single, “Sail”, peaked at
#10 on the U.S. Billboard Rock Songs and has
been featured in The Good Wife, and various
commercials.
Cold War Kids
Beginning in a storage room above a
Mulberry Street restaurant in downtown
Fullerton, CA with some friends, a jangly
guitar, hand claps & a harmony amp in 2004,
the Cold War Kids strive to make honest songs
about human experience. They released their
latest album “Mine is Yours” in 2011, and are
currently working on album number four with
new member Dann Gallucci, former Modest
Mouse guitarist.
Dan Mangan
Once a mere fresh faced folk singer from
Vancouver, Canada, Dan Mangan now
stands at the world’s doorstep. The 2010
Polaris Shortlist nominee can now add Juno
winner to his list of achievements. His latest
album “Oh Fortune,” released in September
2011, landed him with two Junos: ‘Best New
Artist of the Year’ and ‘Alternative Album of
the Year.’

HEADLINERS
Graffiti6
“Colours,” the debut album from Britain’s
Graffiti6, is as vividly vibrant as both the
project’s moniker & its album title suggest.
Graffiti6 released Colours on their own
NWFree Music label in the U.K. in October
2010 and in April 2011 signed to Capitol
Records where they will release their new
digital EP. VH1 picked them for their You
Oughta Know ‘Artist on the Rise’ in April
2012. Their songs have already been heard
on such shows as Grey’s Anatomy, CSI: NY,
and One Tree Hill.
Hey Ocean!
Hey Ocean! is west coast to the core.
Vancouverites Ashleigh Ball, David
Beckingham and David Vertesi make up the
extremely successful young band. Pioneers of
the DIY generation, Hey Ocean! started their
own record label called Pop Machine with
friends from Said the Whale to release their
sophomore album. Riding the success of their
single “Big Blue Wave,” the band just released
their latest full-length album “IS” in spring 2012.
The Joy Formidable
Childhood friends Ritzy Bryan (vocals, guitar)
& Rhydian Dafydd (bass, vocals) teamed
up with drummer Matt Thomas in 2009 to
create the sought-after Welsh rock trio The
Joy Formidable. The group signed with
Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records in
2010, and the label released the band’s fulllength debut “The Big Roar” in early 2011.
The band is currently putting the finishing
touches on their second album.

HEADLINERS
The Sheepdogs
While most rock bands are all too focused
on the riff, The Sheepdogs remember the
importance of those other elements of great
rock music: melody, harmony & groove. The
first unsigned act to be featured on the cover
of Rolling Stone Magazine, The Sheepdogs
subsequently landed a deal with Atlantic
Records. Their latest album, “Learn & Burn”
went gold in Canada in November 2011.
Success continued this year as they took
home 3 Juno Awards, including ‘Single of the
Year’ for their song “I Don’t Know.”
Tokyo Police Club
Tokyo Police Club burst on the scene with
the ecstatically received 2006 EP “A Lesson
in Crime” EPs, singles & a debut album all
in under two years’ time! Their second full
length album & first for the mom+pop label,
“Champ,” has been anything but boring. The
album garnered nominations from both the
Juno Awards & MuchMusic Video Awards
in 2011. The Newmarket, Ontario quartet is
currently working on a new album, planned
for release in the summer of 2012.
We are the City
Since forming in 2008, Kelowna, BC’s We
Are The City has had an incredible ride. The
band received accolades early on for its
progressive-pop sound with the release of their
debut LP “In a Quiet World” in 2009. In January
2010, the band earned $150,000 by winning a
massive ‘battle of the bands’ contest hosted
by Vancouver’s 100.5 The PEAK. The trio then
went on to release six songs entitled “High
School” in March 2011 and “Mourning Song /
Morning Song”, a two song, two-sided 7″ vinyl
in September 2011. They now have their sights
set on a sophomore LP.

Keloha Music & Arts Festival Brings Island Oasis to Kelowna
Kelowna, BC (June 6, 2012) – Keloha Music & Arts Festival is BC’s newest festival
set to bring amazing entertainers to Kelowna’s Waterfront Park along the beautiful
Okanagan Lake on July 6 – 8, 2012. Not just another music festival, Keloha is an
escape into a tropical oasis of music and art. Alongside shows by 26 of the hottest
bands in indie, alternative, folk, pop and rock music, Keloha offers a family-friendly
space to create and enjoy art.
25+ artisans will showcase their work for free at Keloha, creating an outdoor gallery
the whole family can enjoy. Waterfront Park will be transformed into an exotic oasis
where families can lose themselves listening to music and exploring local art exhibits:
from the 'Instrument Petting Zoo' where kids test out various instruments to 'Art Ave',
featuring local artisans along the beach-side boardwalk.
“Keloha Music & Arts Festival is a way for us to further embrace the culture of music,
arts, and community that makes Kelowna one of the best summer destinations in
Canada. We take a lot of pride in creating successful events for Kelowna," stated
Scott Emslie event founder, Wet Ape Productions.
Keloha is a festival for the true music fan. The lineup features 26 bands with one thing
in common: an amazing live show. Acclaimed Toronto rockers Tokyo Police Club
headline the first night, along with local stars We Are The City. Day two sees Welsh
alt-rockers The Joy Formidable, taking a break from putting the final touches on their
second album to treat music fans to dirty guitar riffs and melodic lyrics. Plus, Cali band
Cold War Kids will bring some punk soul to the musical mix.
The final day of Keloha features Said the Whale and Hey Ocean from Vancouver, as
well as Victoria natives Acres of Lions. Deemed 'New Artist of the Year' at the Junos,
Dan Mangan completes the list of BC artists. Fresh from Coachella and Sasquatch,
three-time Juno winners The Sheepdogs offer up their blast-from-the-past rock and
roll, while punk-rockers AWOLNATION give fans something to head-bang about as the
final act of the festival.
A Keloha weekend pass ranges from $99.50 - $109.50; single day tickets are $49.50 $59.50. With a paying adult, Kids 6 - 12 are half price and Kids 5 and under are FREE.
