Held in Ross Home Chapel, North Road at 10:30am Saturday 25 May 2013 followed by private cremation Officiating Rev Neville Winskill | Organist Donald Moorhead ABIDE WITH ME Abide with me: fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide: When other helpers fail, and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me. I need Thy presence every passing hour; What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me. Tributes Malcolm and Chris Eulogy Bill Dacker General Sharing An opportunity to share a memory of Violet I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death’s sting? Where grave, Thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes, Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies; Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee: In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me. SHE IS GONE You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her Or you can be full of love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn you back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. From niece Beverly What a friend we have in Jesus all our sins and griefs to bear, what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer; O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations, is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged: take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness: take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care? Jesus is our only refuge: take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer; in his arms he’ll take and shield you, you will find a solace there.
