Congratulations to our rugby league team and Mr Sallustio for
Congratulations to our rugby league team and Mr Sallustio for defeating Tweed Heads South PS 18 – nil last Friday. It was a tremendous effort for the boys to travel all the way to the border and produce great football against a quality team. A huge thank you to our supportive parents and their families who made the long journey north. Today our boys are playing the winner of the North West NSW division Ross Hill PS. I’m sure they will be doing themselves, their coach and their school proud. Good luck boys. We will be taking spectators from Years 5 and 6. Children wearing the school hat and school uniform will be able to attend. Numbers are limited due to bus sizes. Enrolling Now for Kindergarten 2014 We are currently taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2014. If you have a child who turns 5 by July 31, 2014 then you need to complete an enrolment form. Please feel free to visit our school and collect an information pack including an enrolment form from our friendly office staff. It is helpful for us to receive these completed forms by the end of Term 3 2013 so we can start to plan our 2014 classes and make staffing decisions. If you do not live in our School Zone you will be required to complete an Out of Zone enrolment form. If you are in this situation I would advise you to submit your forms ASAP as you will be placed on a priority list depending on the date the form has been received at school. If you have relatives or friends who have a child commencing school next year please pass on this message. New parents are welcome to contact myself or Mrs Pelley our Deputy Principal to discuss your child and/or what Wauchope PS has to offer. We will be hosting an Information Evening on Tuesday 5 November in the school hall between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. This will include an information session, school tour and light supper. We are experimenting with hosting a Playgroup every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon where children can attend with their parents between 1:45pm and 3:00pm in the old school hall. One of our current Kindergarten teachers will be on hand to talk to parents and undertake fun activities with the children. Our Kinder Start program where children come to school each morning for a week will commence on Monday 4 November. There is also a wealth of information about WPS on our school website: www.wauchope-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Congratulations to our netball team who defeated Narranga PS in Coffs Harbour. Rugby League team travelled all the way up to the Queensland border to play Tweed Heads South P.S. When we arrived at our destination, we all checked into our accommodation and then met down at the local sportsground for a light training session. Later that evening, Mr Sallustio and our parents organised a team dinner at the local Sports Club. On Friday it was gameday! Our opponents, like us, were also undefeated with impressive attack and defence records. Our team played tremendous, with everyone contributing their part, and with that, we eventually won the game 18-0 becoming North Coast champions! Try scorers were David H, Tony T and Sam I. Goal scorers were Lachlan M, Tony T and Sam I. We now play Ross Hill P.S. from Inverell in the NSW Quarter Finals. Thank you to Mr Sallustio who organised the trip and coached us and a big thank you to all our parents who drove us up for our game. By Tony T and Bailey M Netball News Last Friday, our netball team travelled to Coffs Harbour to play Round 5 of the PSSA netball knockout against Narranga PS. Whilst we were leading at half time, it was only by four goals but with sheer determination and skill our girls won the game 31-15. This was a fantastic effort by the whole team. A big thank you to all our mums who transported the girls and especially Anna Lewis who umpired. We even had a guest appearance by a certain school principal who was very excited and manage to slip away from his principal’s conference for just a little while to watch us play! We now go on to play round 6 against either Maclean PS or Yamba PS. Once you receive your certificate please take a copy to the schools front office addressed to the P& C. This is free for all volunteers and is a changed process for working with children checks. The Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) is implementing a new Working With Children Check (WWCC) from 15 June 2013. This means changes for us all, including a different way to apply to the Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate for approvals and supervisor certificates. Effective immediately, all WWCCs must go through the Commission. Individuals (childcare workers and volunteers) will now have to apply directly to the Commission to obtain their WWCC. This is a simple two-step process: 1. Fill in an online form or call the CCYP’s helpline to have someone fill in a form for you. 2. Take the application number to a motor registry or government access centre and have your identity confirmed. (You will need to take appropriate identification with you.) If you have already submitted an application of any kind, you will be notified by the Directorate if you need to re-apply to CCYP for your WWCC. For further information about the new WWCC and how to apply, go to the Please go to this website: http://www.kids.nsw.gov.au/Working-withchildren/New-Working-with-Children-Check Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. -P & CSchool Fete - Our School Fete is a huge event and requires lots and lots of volunteers for the day.
