Dear Staff, Parents and Students
Tuesday 9 August 2016 is Census night in Australia. The
Census is conducted every 5 years to provide a snapshot of
Australia. Census data is used to inform services in local
communities, from housing and transport to health and
education.
Schools can play a key role in supporting the Census in their
area. If we can increase the awareness of the Census among
families and children, we hope it will help to improve
responses from their families and result in a better Census
outcome for the whole community.
Please fill in your census form and use it to educate your
children at the same time.
Thank you.
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE
I have looked up the website for the closing date for entering
books for the Premier's Reading Challenge. Please have
your completed Reading Log forms to Mrs Harradence by
19th August.
The correct answer last week was (b) 2.2.
Congratulations to Matthew Rebus (6B) and
Luke Dowling (5D) who were the first entries out.
Well done!
This week we have had Georgie Evans (KD) and Mia Evans
(3M) complete the challenge. Congratulations to both of you.
We have had just 62 entries so far, so we have a busy 3
weeks ahead to reach the goal of cracking the 400 mark!
Keep up the great reading!

Teacher Librarians
WELCOME
We welcome Braydon Diebert (5D), Maddison McGrath (3R), Jakob Tyrrell (6H) and Talum Tyrrell (6B), who
have recently joined our school community. We hope you settle quickly and enjoy your time at Jerrabomberra
School.
A BIG NETBALL CONGRATULATIONS!
Earlier this year one of our school 'super star' netball players,
Alicia Carter of 6/5W, was selected into the PSSA South Coast
Netball team. Last week Alicia travelled to Albury to compete
with her team in the 2016 PSSA State Netball Championships.
The team earned a very respectable 8th place out of 14 teams
after 3 days of competition with 6 wins, 6 losses and a draw.
We are all incredibly proud of Alicia and her great performance!
Well done!
SNOWSPORTS SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES
Last week, we had 8 students represent the school at the Snowsports Schools
Championships.
The Jerrabomberra Public School Snow Sports team competed last week in the ACT/Southern NSW Snow Sports Event held
at Perisher. As in previous years, the competition was fast and furious with many outstanding competitors. This year’s
Jerrabomberra team consisted of Georgia Adamson, Ty Pettersen, Ollie Primrose, Charlie Pettersen, Zac Noake, Sam
Watling, Ryder Pettersen and James Watling. All students competed in both the Alpine and skier cross disciplines.
This year Jerrabomberra tasted success in both alpine and
skier cross disciplines with Ollie Primrose and Sam Watling
making it through individually to the NSW State Championships
in both events. Our Division 4 boys team consisting of Ollie
Primrose, Zac Noake and Ty Pettersen made it through to the
NSW State Championships in the alpine event. The NSW State
Championships will be held at the end of August at Thredbo.
Overall, a great result for the Jerrabomberra Public School
Team. Congratulations to all students for a top effort under
trying conditions and thank you to the parents for their support
with these talented athletes.

JPS FETE UPDATE
2 August 2016
http://jpsfete.wix.com/jpsfete
DESPERATELY SEEKING PLANT/FLOWER STALL CONVENOR!
We are desperate for someone to run the ever popular Plant Stall, which we hope to combine with the flower stall.
Please be assured you do not need to grow everything yourself, we will ask for donations and the flowers will be
purchased, you don’t need to grow them! The Convenor can grow some items if they wish; otherwise it is just a
matter of arranging the stall and selling the items on the day. Remember, you can always grab a friend and run the stall
together. Please help!!!
**Tombola**
At our last fete the Tombola proved very popular so we are going to run it again at this year’s fete. Pay for a stick, the
number on it will correspond to a prize – EVERY STICK WINS A PRIZE! We are asking students to donate the items for
Tombola; these items can be given to their teacher or the front office.
