biography
ALEX HAJDU - Art Director / Production Designer
Frank Darabont’s pilot for the period detective mystery LA NOIR, set in 1947 Los Angeles, was picked up by TNT for
a first season order of 5 episodes. The new series is entitled MOB CITY. Alex served as Art Director for the pilot and first
two episodes before taking over as Production Designer to complete the series.
Recently Alex completed work on the pilot for the series MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC STUDIOS as Art
Director.
Prior to that Alex was the Art Director on the NBC series ANIMAL PRACTICE. Following that he worked on the 20th
Century Fox TV’s pilot THE LIST, produced and directed by GANSTER SQUAD creator Ruben Fleischer and S.H.I.E.L.D
writer / producer Paul Zbyszewski.
Alex was the Art Director on the Sony Televison comedy pilot EL JEFE. He was teamed with long time collabortaor
Gregory Melton, PD.
As the original Art Drector for the pilot and first two episodes of THE WALKING DEAD, another Frank Darbont produced
project, Alex then became the Production Designer for subsequent episodes including the dramatic season finale.
Alex started his collaboration with Frank Darabont’s on the feature film THE MIST, starring Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay
Harden, shot in Shreveport Louisiana, as Art Director.
ABC’s “OFF THE MAP”, shot in Hawaii, was another television project for Alex as Art Director for the first 5 episodes and
completing 7 as Production Designer.
Alex Hajdu had the pleasure to be chosed as an Art Director on Oliver Stone’s W., starring Josh Brolin, Derek Hill serving
as Production Designer.
LAW ABIDING CITIZEN marks his first major feature film as production designer. Shot in Philadelphia, the dark action
thriller stared Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler.
Born in Budapest, Hungary. Mr. Hajdu immigrated to America during the Hungarian Revolution. He moved to Hollywood
as a small child, grew up in the movie business and started working at the early age of fifteen as a runner and PA.
Mr. Hajdu became a propmaster in 1976, working on high end television commercial production before becoming a
Production Designer in 1984. His first feature film experience was as art director on the Roger Corman productions
BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and GALAXY OF TERROR working alongside Academy Award winner James Cameron and
the Oscar-winning visual effects team, Robert and Dennis Skotak.
Mr. Hajdu has done extensive location work as an Art Director for IMAX and CircleVision projects in Hawaii and Bora-Bora
for Disney Studios. He was the Art Director on the 1990 high definition production of To Dream of Roses for Expo Japan
alongside Visual EFX master Douglas Trumbull. He was also the Production Designer on the 1940 period CD ROM
detective thriller Noir, in the pioneering days of gaming.
Mr. Hajdu was also responsible for designing many signature music videos for artists such as EARTH, WIND AND FIRE, DON
HENLEY and THE FOO FIGHTERS.
Among his other credits as art director are the ABC series Private Practice, In Case of Emergency, Night Stalker, the pilot
for My Name Is Earl and The Visitor, which was the first television series produced by Centropolis Entertainment’s Dean
Devlin and Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY).
