over the Maples Marauders on Sept. 12, the
Grade 12 five-foot-six running back ran for
285 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.
Nepinak’s outstanding performance earned

Talent runs in the
MacNeil family
Victoria MacNeil is a six-foot, 17-year-old young woman
who’s totally at ease on a volleyball court.
She just started Grade 12 at Oak Park High School and is very
excited for what will be a very big year for her.
“I am taking it one step at a time but I would like to play at
the university level.”
Victoria started playing both basketball and volleyball, but
eventually worked her way to only playing volleyball.
“I was scouted by the SISU club team in Winnipeg last year
which was put together by Chris Green,” she said. “Last year
was my first year of club; this is my fourth year at Oak Park
because I am in French immersion. I really enjoy playing
volleyball, it feels natural to me.”
Victoria’s parents are Brett and Anna, and she has an older
sister, Courtney.
Her father, Brett, enjoyed a long career as an offensive lineman in the CFL and played many years as a Winnipeg Blue
Bomber.
When I asked Victoria who her favourite athlete is, she said:
“I look up to my dad for that.”
Both of her parents have played a tremendous role in
Victoria’s young sports career.
“Anything I want to do, they back me up and have been there
for me.”

Former Wolverine pins down scholarship
A former West Kildonan Collegiate wrestler’s determination on the mat has earned him a scholarship.
Justin Ramgotra was one of 21 student athletes to receive Manitoba Foundation for Sports scholarships on Sept. 23, which
were presented by Sport Manitoba at the Sport for Life Centre.
The recent West Kildonan grad, who participated in the school’s wrestling, football and rugby programs, received $500 for his
continual commitment to amateur sport while pursuing a post-secondary education.
Ramgotra, 18, is currently attending the University of Winnipeg where he is a member of the Wesmen men’s wrestling team.
Ramgotra, who currently wrestles at 100 kilograms, is coming off three straight provincial titles, winning his weight class in
his Grade 10, 11 and 12 years.
Ramgotra, who started wrestling in Grade 9, said his success on the mat is due to his strength of mind.
