ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Sustainable Environmental Policy
The proprietors and management of Hotel RIOSOL assume an
active policy in sustainability & has incorporated into its daily
work routine measures to minimise any detrimental effects on
the environment as a result of our business.
1) ENERGY SAVING
The power consumed by an Hotel causes one of the greatest
impacts economically, and on the environment. We have a
commitment to reduce this where possible, without of course
lowering in any way the quality service for our guests.
Therefore we have installed energy saving mechanisms in
and around the Apartments and in the general communal
areas of the complex.
Energy saving light bulbs.
Automatic close down mechanisms.
Efficient interior lighting.
Use of alternative energy.
2) SAVING WATER
We who live on this Island are fully aware of how scarce but
valuable water is, and we always try where possible to use
this responsibly.
Saving mechanisms in Apartments.
Efficient watering systems for gardens and plants.
Re-using residual waters.

3) RECYCLING
Our priority is to eliminate from our work processes all materials
with high contamination on the environment, and the
separation of of all those residues which can be recycled & we
encourage our guests to work with us.
We have recycling areas throughout the complex for the
collection of plastic, paper, glass, high contaminating
products such as batteries etc.
We work with suppliers who have compatible policies for
managing their impact on the environment.
We re-utilise waste grease and oils from our kitchens, to
make bio-diesel.
4) THE USE OF ECOLOGICAL PRODUCTS
We use ecological products in all areas where possible.
Maintenance and cleaning of swimming pools.
Cleaning products for Apartments and communal areas.
Maintenance of gardens.
5) ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY OBJECTIVES
Install all new measures possible which may save
energy, be it using alternative fields or by technical
means, which provide maximum efficiency.
Eliminate completely the wastage of water in our Hotel.
Progressively increase re‐cycling and reduce by 20%
the residual volume via mechanical crushing or
compacting.
We are also committed to reducing CO2 and to fully
substitute fossil energy by renewables

6) SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL POLICY
The owners and Mangement of Aparthotel RIOSOL have a commitment to active green policies and the implementation of
proactive measures to protect and sustain the local social
and economic environment and to minimise any detrimental
effect as a result of our business.
7) PURCHASING POLICIES
Where possible we prefer to purchase local products made
and produced in the Canary Islands, for example the cleaning
products are almost all canarian.
With regard to food provisions we also use local food
products including Fresh fruit and vegetables and we offer
our guests an excellent Canarian Buffet each week in our
Hotel.
8) EMPLOYMENT POLICY
As a general rule we prefer to contract local people as staff,
and where possible residents in our municipal area of
Mogan,as this gives an advantage to our company which
benefits by more flexible hours, and for the employee who
also benefits by having to travel less and pay less on transport.
We scrupulously respect working conditions and assume
good
practise
policies
in
our
work
areas.
We do not accept harassment in the work sector.
We reject discrimination
rascism or nationality.
We
respect
peoples
in any way be it sexual,
dignity
in
the
work
force.
We recognize individual merits, and reward work well done.
We promote a pleasant work atmosphere.

9) CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SOCIAL AND
ECONOMIC SECTORS
We consider that all economic activities should relate positively with its surroundings not only to minimise the possible
negative effects which could arise, but to create a stable
bond of union for mutual benefit.
In the social area we have established an agreement with the
social services department of the Mogan Town hall to offer
employment when possible for local families with financial
difficulties, or to simply assist or make donations for local
charities on request.
With regard to the economic sector we have always avoided
what we consider " Predatory Practises" such as ALL INCLUSIVE
in some Hotels, because we think it is good for all our guests
(and also for our Hotel) that guests are free to enjoy the
surrounding local bars and Restaurants, so that small local
businesses can benefit from our clients too.
10) SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY OBJECTIVES
Establish an agreement with the local community so that
automatically part of our company benefits, are
channeled towards solidarity programmes in our area.
In a margin of two years, that the percentage of employees
living in our municipal region increases by 20%.
That products elaborated in canaries are more available for
our clients.
We commit to promote, among our staff, clients and providers,
Sustainability, as a fundamental element which differentiates
our company.
